Exclusive: Facebook, Google and Amazon in talks to lease Park Tower, one of S.F.'s last empty new office projects

Three of the world's most valuable companies are each considering a major lease at Park Tower, one of only two new San Francisco office skyscrapers without a tenant, according to five sources.

Amazon.com Inc. (NYSE: AMZN), Facebook Inc. (Nasdaq: FB) and Google Inc., a division of Alphabet Inc. (Nasdaq: GOOG) are all in talks to occupy the building at 250 Howard St., the sources said. No lease has been signed, and it may be months before one is completed, likely with only one of the companies, sources said. Deals could range from the 250,000-square-foot base of the building to all 750,000 square feet in the project – enough space for around 4,000 employees, sources said.

I’m thinking it’s Oceanwide Center.

When I read it, that was what I assumed, but of course the Park Tower is totally office whereas Oceanwide is mixed use which matters in terms of the risk assumed by building on spec.

That occurred to me too, after I posted. You guys are probably right. But it does seem odd to be worrying about lack of a tenant for a building that isn't even a hole in the ground yet.

View from Salesforce area of Park Tower

It appears that the cable car is stopped at the garden level. It is a boxy affair.
Park tower does not excite me.

Looking forward for the median 1 bdrm rents being $5k/month in the area.

The angled base on the east side is somewhat interesting.
