I like how the balconies in the dark blue colums seem to be integrated into the design of the building to flow with the curves and edges of the tower.

I've just come from the site, and construction will begin really soon. Workers were in the process of setting up caisson cranes, there will be 2 of them. There is rebar and other construction materials being delivered to the site. I believe by the end of the week or early next week this baby will be under construction.

I am pleased to report that One Museum Park is now officially under-construction. I just came from the site and noticed that several caisson holes have been drilled.

excellent news victor. thanks!

1MP represents the 5th 500+ footer to start construction in 2005, and the 21st since this current boom began.

I know this is a pipe dream but is there any chance of this building going taller? Do I remember correctly that at one time this building was originally to be taller? Either way I am psyched about this building.

^This one is set at 720'. The city did want the developer to go even taller than it's current height, but that didn't happen. We still have that chance with the 2 towers west of Indiana along Roosevelt Road. You never know...

Yes, it was going to be ~75 stories, after the city (thanks to the fact tall and thin is now in) asked the developer, The Entireprise Companies to create a taller building to create a mirror image to AON Center on the opposite end of Grant Park. It was scaled down to 62 stories because of the surge in concrete and steel prices, thank you China.

The Legacy will be 73 stories, 830 S. Michigan will be 70+ stories, plus another ~60 story tower at Michigan and Roosevelt. We are pretty spoiled.

Chicago Shawn, I'm still dreaming, hasn't the price of steel and concrete gone down recently?

BVictor1, what are the 2 towers west of Indiana along Roosevelt Road?

those two towers are undefined at this point in time, but they are a part of the central station master plan. the last we heard, they were planned to stand in the 50 - 60 floor range, but i guess it's always possible that they could go higher (or lower for that matter). these buildings are still a wee bit off, so time will tell.

I can't believe that we let this thread slip to the third page. Anyway I visiyed the sales center yesterday and was told that One Museum Park is roughly 85% sold. The grand opening for One Museum Park West will be February 4,2006. They will be going straight to contracts for this tower. The top residentila floor is 53 in this building. The have a very nice model for tower 2 now on display. I of course took some shots of it.

The base of the northern facade that fronts Roosevelt Road.

View of the northern elevation looking south.

View of the southern elevation looking north.

The base of the southern facade showing garage entrance and drop off points.

The base of the western elevation which fronts Indiana Avenue.

View of the eastern elevation looking west.

View of the western elevation looking east.

Some shots of the crown.

I also heard a rumor that because of the success of OMP East, there is a chance that tower 4(at the corner of Michigan & Roosevelt) could possible be the taller. As I said, this is just a rumor.

^ very nice, this one is shapping up to be better than 1MPeast. although the apparent lack of street/sidewalk interaction is once again worrisome and confounding. central station may end up being the most densely populated place on the planet without public retail. i don't get it.
