Didn't realize at the time, but it looks like they are installing the balcony box things.

So maybe all hope is not lost.

It's still gonna be ugly as hell. But yeah, tall.

The balcony cladding looks alright, I'm really waiting for the rest of this podium to get cladded, this orange material is intriguing me. Yea...the tower and whole thing isn't going to be a great thing to stare at, but atleast it'll be better than 365 Church.

LOL @ better than 365 Church ... worst of the worst, eh?

Tough choice. I have to give it to this one being 200 metres tall and at Yonge & College. I'd side with you if they were both 30 storeys and off Yonge Street.

Edit. I also really hate the black and white blocks. 365 Church is just a bland design horribly executed.

YC is basically across the street from my work and I see the south facing facade. The grey spandrel above the historic Oddfellow's Hall is actually kind of offensive. The Grenville side isn't as bad, Karma actually did a good job with street presence for a side street,

That's what I've been saying all along. Sure there will be some here that never liked the design from the first render but for anybody else who is able to wait until a building starts to take shape to form a true opinion it's been to early here to do so. Right now it's like saying a cake looks ugly before it gets it's icing. For anyone who has been on the fence about this, they should get a better feel for how it will end up looking over the coming weeks.

Queue my troll, He is the Law. He will tell us all how we should think or feel about this building. LOL

You stupid twit. I'm not trying to convince anyone. It is you guys trying to convince me to give this a chance (mainly because it's tall) It's not necessary given the reputation and sister designs already completed by this same development partnership. You're in the creative industry. Don't you have a god damn imagination?

You're a fuck'n child.

For height-obsessed fanboys, there's a very very narrow window for acceptably-timed design criticism, right between "too early to judge" and "too late to cry over spilt milk"

It's not just YC Condos... I've said many times over the years that more people should step back and wait for the U/C building to be finished before saying how horrible it looks...

I'm not disagreeing with you. I've seen it myself at UT. I've said it here too. With YC, there's more than enough erected to conclude this is more of the same ass window wall from the players in YC Ltd. than a change in direction. It's a panelized system of very small panes of glass with inconsistent widths and spandrel glass placements. No thought was put into it once the floor plate was divided into units. I understand you don't mind the black and white balcony blocks. I hated it the very time GC used it. It's too in your face tacky and cheap. It look goofy and comical so there's no glimmer of hope left for me.

This tower maybe ... and I stress maybe ... acceptable in some as a 12 storey "filler" in some non descript part of the GTA but, standards should be infinitely more higher for a 200 metre tower hovering over the Yonge + College intersection. Just look at the aA next to it. No matter if you find it boringly bland or whatever. It still has quality despite it being window wall as well .

It'll sure be a contrast......to all the other corner buildings at Yonge and College, even though it doesn't quite meet the corner, thankfully.

From the 50's modernist concrete office tower, to the 90's residential granite PO-MO tower, to the classical 30's College Park, and now with Candarels 2010's 60 floor uh....interesting condo building that towers over the Gooderham Hall building built in the 1890's.
