This building is gorgeous. Hands down my favorite of the new crop.... she is the most sophisticated and classy addition we've seen. Like a cross between the NY Times building and Comcast Center in Phillie......

New Rendering Unveils 66-Storey Tower in Los Angeles
Quote:
Another surface parking lot in Los Angeles is biting the dust and giving way to a 66-storey tower. A newly released rendering showcases the rectangular skyscraper at 925 South Figueroa Street, mere steps from the Olympic Tower site and the L.A. Live entertainment complex. Designed by CallisonRTKL for Regalian LLC, the project landed on the desks of the Los Angeles Planning Department earlier this year.

Yeah, I'm generally not one to complain about height, but it seems like a no-brained to tack on an additional 25 feet just for the distinction.

Its 9 feet shy of 300 meters, the 'official' measurement of a supertall structure...and 25 feet short of 1000' feet. Id love for it to be a 1000 footer, but am happy enough at 975, since we were all believing it might have only scraped 900 feet, which, again, everyone was still happy about. LOL. Great looking tower...great location, great height.
No complaints from me!

American developers don't care about some arbitrary "supertall" status that only skyscraper wonks and the CTBUH (because it's what they get paid to do) care about. American builders just build what's necessary. If this was China, it would be 984 feet.

^^^ They used to care at one point. Reason why up until the 90s, majority of the worlds tallest buildings were in the USA. Now its all about cost. If it ever became possible to build a skyscraper out of wood or plastic, American Developers will jump on it haha.

Great tower. Something i wouldnt expect to be built in LA in ym lifetime. Finally we're getting the glossy sophisticated towers we deserve. Hope it goes through all the way.

Well, this is off-topic, but the USA's first all-wood high rise was just approved for construction in Portland, Oregon according to the CTBUH.

Nice building LA! If this gets built, WG will be relegated to third place in the skyline.

There's so much hype about the Angels Landing site that it seems everyone has forgotten about this building.

Not me It seems everyone has forgotten about the Olympia towers & the 700 footer that's supposed to rise on 1th and Olive (I think it's that intersection).

Love it! Kinda love the ambition of L.A. and Edmonton right now in terms of building huge new downtown city within a city developments around mixed-used arenas... To me it's the new model for all future NHL/NBA projects... Yes build a downtown arena, but also make sure it's lively 24-7 and THE hub of city centre...

Too bad the parking lots at Dodger Stadium won't get any development love any time soon. Revenue is too good.
