N3 Breaks Ground in Calgary

Quote:
Calgary’s East Village was the scene of shovels, cowboy-shaped hard helmets, and Biria Bicycles, as a new urban condo project broke ground. N3, a 167-unit highrise condo building designed by GEC Architecture and developed by Knightsbridge Homes and Metropia, has officially broken ground only two months after its opening sales launch. The three Ns in the project's name reflect its goals for a “New Attitude, New Lifestyle and New Vision."

Hopefully drilling starts this week, not one of those fake ground breaking ceremonies like Waterfront- Parkside. I went by last week and still no drills.

Can you drill in the winter in Calgary or is it too hard? Probably a dumb question but I have no idea

Seems like more projects start in the fall and spring, but I've seen drilling start in the middle of the winter a few times here.

From what I heard yesterday they are anxious to get going right away. which makes sense as they have sold the suites, now it's time to just get'er done.

It'll be interesting to see what type of drilling or pile driving they do on a project with no underground parking.

Without a parkade this project will be done in no time. Maybe around this time in 2016 if construction starts right away.

The lady at the sales centre said summer 2017 when we were in there last week.

Wasn't the bike storage room in the basement too?

If I recall correctly, they're going to have some sort of basement level with storage units and bike storage for the condos.

Did anyone else notice the completely brand new Cat excavator sitting there PE must have done pretty well with the telus Sky contract as well as some others. They also had a new excavator when they started the concord excavation a couple months ago

Is it theirs or did they borrow it for the ceremonies and throw some magnets on it? Plastic is still on the seat.

to say PE has done "pretty well" is an understatement. Their last 3 years have been record setting, with a profit margin that would make you squirm. Let's just say their Net Income in the last 2 years was well into the 10's (and 10's and 10's etc...) of millions, EACH year. The Gryckiewicz's (owners) are doing OK, to say the least.

Crane going up on the site today.... be curious to see how quickly this one will rise given there's very little work to be done below ground.
