And you laugh at the big, clumsy Lexuses every time you drive uptown.

It's so true, as an on-street parker, I can't imagine wanting to own anything larger. My first car was a mid 90s Toyota 4Runner [with a trailer hitch sticking out the back] and it was a terrible thing to park Uptown. I'm so glad I traded down to a small car (not to mention paying a fraction of the fuel costs).

New Dollar Store @ Former Applby's Location

I rarely go uptown, but today I noticed that the former location of Appleby's is being renovated into another dollar store as seen in the snapshots that I took below:

Food vendors won't return to Saint John streets until fall

Mayor Mel Norton says the city cannot change the bylaw to allow mobile food carts on its sidewalks in time for the tourism season. HOWEVER:
Mobile food vendors will be able to sell their food on certain municipally-owned properties, including Loyalist Plaza, where a BeaverTails franchise has already been approved by the Saint John Waterfront Development Corp.

Princess Auto, East Saint John

Activity at the new Princess Auto is picking up, with new signs and another construction trailer on the premises, as well as new fencing.

Taken from the East Point Shopping Facebook page. "Construction is officially under way! Princess Auto scheduled to open at East Point this Fall."

I can't see a froyo store doing well there at all... That sort of thing would do much better in a mall or something. That plaza is awful.

Pretty terrible location. However, I'll definitely check it out, and try it!

Hearing some rumours about Better Buy Sports moving into a new larger location in Saint John West.
Also a new resturant should be announced soon also for the West side. I can't say any details or face being shot!

I wonder if the forthcoming restaurant announcement is the lot at the corner of Fairville and Catherwood. It went through PAC a couple years ago and the rumour then was something along the lines of a Boston Pizza, IIRC. It'd certainly be nice to be able to have BP for dinner and not have to deal with the chaos of the East Side!

Kents West

Just wanted to comment on the new Kent store opening tommorrow on the West Side.
It is great to see the way the Irvings landscaped the corner. It looks so much better then the dust bowel that was there before!
The West side is on a roll lets hope it continues!

It's a nicer sight to drive by when I'm going to and from work, that's for sure.

Now if only something would be done with the other two corners...
