Also just noticed, did ALDO close at the Southland Mall? It is not mentioned on the map or store list of Southland Mall's website....

Update: just received email confirmation from oneREIT that that location is now closed. That is a huge blow to Southland Mall regarding national tenants, especially regarding upscale shoes.

When the build time is as long as it is going to be then not much need to get excited until fall maybe.

I have heard a rumour that MAC Cosmetics is moving into the Bentley store space.

If true, I believe that would be another Saskatchewan first, although the Hudson's Bay in each of Saskatoon and Regina have a MAC store inside.

Although it's a temporary hit to the lease revenue for oneREIT, it's more a sign of the times with regards to shoe stores. With the popularity of internet shoe shopping sites, more and more people are turning to the internet for their shoes. Brick & mortar shoe shops just aren't as necessary as they once were.

The closure of the Sketcher's store in the Cornwall is another example. Prime storefront location in the mall with high traffic, big brand name, just can't make a go of it anymore. Too much competition at lower prices.

It also will open up a larger space for a bigger tenant too on that side.

I saw a picture of that building that H&M is going into, that should be fantastic

Very jealous, Winnipeg is getting it's 2nd H&M but it will be inside a mall like our first in Polo Park is.

I really hope they will have some good sized signage for daytime and nighttime visual for the former Havik building. Some video boards would be nice to get that area looking like a mini time square !

Here is the recently re-designed new flagship store at Toronto Eaton Centre for reference:

I wonder what they will do with this:

Would also be nice for the mall to get new vertical signage for Sears, The Bay and their name, something that stands out and maybe lights up.

It's come a long way:

I'll take H&M over Only Deals any day!

Sorry, I don't know how to post this picture, so the link is below. It's of the 48-story 4 Times Square building in Manhattan, where H&M has a large multi-level store. I doubt they would do something like this on the SGI or SaskTel buildings, but you can see they really like to promote their name!

Obviously H&M cannot cover the façade of a heritage building but there are some very large windows on 11th and they could put signage on the roof. You will note that Havik had a number of attractive vertical banner signs as well.

Nothing too exciting:

I also noticed that demo had started in the former Smitty's and the stores north of Telus on the second level appear to already be demoed

I don't know if it's temporary, signed Telus does have signage on the old Danier spot, but there appears to be a Telus kiosk being put up (behind curtains) right next too H&B.

Telus is going in Danier spot. Kiosk is temporary, as Telus' storefront closed today.

Is there any space left above Hudsons Bay that maybe a Goodlife could go in? I'm trying to think where would have a large enough spot for them. Not sure about the square footage but if Marlin moved, how many square feet would be free for a gym on the main level across from Sasktel?
