Cool Austin | Block 185/Google Tower #2 | 594 Feet | 35 Floors | Complete

There seems to be a lot of speculation about this lot. I couldn't find a thread and through my extensive searching all I found was Austin Proper information. Does anyone know more about this?

Block 185 will be the residential tower that was planned on being a twin to Northshore, but that recent massings in other buildings' (Proper, etc.) renderings show will have a different design (thankfully).

It doesn't yet warrant it's own thread.

A thread for this lot was definitely overdue. Here's a rendering showing what they've projected for this site:

That rendering is so old. The project will definitely not look like that.

We know the project won't look like the rendering just as Northshore, Austin Proper and the office tower don't look like that. But there is/was a proposal (39-stories, 410') and more information should be forthcoming once Austin Proper is underway. So I think it deserves a thread.

Exactly. Do you think I don't know that that rendering is old and that it will almost assuredly not look like that? I'm posting what we've got. Because this will be the thread for this lot from now on.

How can one argue against this having its own thread. All that crap in the Domain and elsewhere has a thread.

I'm so with you on that sentiment. But I hope we get more supporting news/announcements/permit filings on this project and the Travis Co. block real soon.

I will say the 2015 rendering looks like it would have had better street interaction along cesar chavez, but I'm glad we got The Sail instead of those forgettable buildings.

Kevin, can you duplicate and add the posts regarding Facebook rumors to this thread since they're potentially relevant to this project?

Yesterday this didn't warrant its own thread. Quit trolling. In unrelated news, this will be around the 400' mark.

Well, I still think it doesn't warrant it's own thread, but since the community disagrees we might as well get all the relevant information in the thread... Don't be a jerk.

This thread has a lot of activity. That in itself shows that this project is definitely worthy of its own thread.
