Cranes and steel have shown up today at the 1919 commemorative site at the corner of Lily and Market. Can't wait to see this up!

For anyone hoping that the Juliet balconies at 98 Market would improve the look of the facade... yeah that's a negative.

Saw them being installed today - literally just a fire-engine red railing screwed directly into the door frame. It looks like a prison baby gate. Terrible.

I don't mind the colour but they're stuck to the inside of the door frame and don't extend beyond it. Like a baby gate as Portmanteau said. Looks very stupid. At least this building is mostly hidden on a side street. Hopefully the pumphouse will be cool.

It's really too bad that we have a brand new building filling a hole on market - should have never been built.

It's really to bad that shit gets built in Winnipeg, and when the pile is produced, it's even shittier than the renderings.

Everyone has a different view of what looks good. This 'shit' will only add to what is becoming a desirable neighbourhood.

^ It's more or less out of sight, so it doesn't bother me any. I don't care if a filler building is a little homely so long as it is massed properly, contributes to the streetscape and adds some density. 98 Market does all of that.

Where it starts to get offensive is when it's prominent. H20 on Waterfront is an example of ugly AND visible.

Ugh, I am trying not to think of H2Ohhhh lord she a ugly!

When projects in the Exchange are few and far between, the ones approved better be exceptional, and 98 Market is not; and now it is being stripped of accents.

Looks good. It also looks like it's aimed at people with different a different budget.

Not that it affects me personally, but if I can digress I'll point out that it is somewhat irritating that these buildings that have gone up on Tache over the past decade are barely tall enough to take advantage of their potentially excellent downtown views. If those buildings went up 10 floors, you'd have at least a few floors peering over the treeline.

This has always irritated me, such lost potential in this neighborhood.
