CASABLANCA, Morocco

Hi folks! Long time since my last photo thread! I've recently been to Morocco and travel around quite a bit... Here is Casablanca, where I stayed at the beginning and the end of my trip. Photos cover a lot of ground, old Medina, Downtown, seafront, rich and less rich neighbourhoods.

You can click on each pic for a description and a link to the map!

Here goes :

Thanks for watching!

Cool! I still enjoy looking at your London threads, and it's great to see that your compositional skills and eye for detail are alive and well!

The grit and the slightly awkward Westernisation of the city come out in this thread really well, as well as the vibrancy of the place. Great stuff!

Nice photos, you did a pretty good job in showing the different sides of Casablanca. But I have to say that Casa is by far my least favorite of the larger Moroccan cities. It lacks the amazing medinas of cities like Marrakech or Fes and the nice French colonial architecture of Rabat. In addition its pretty dirty and unsafe (I was the victim of an armed robbery and a suicide bomber also blew himself up during my visit there).

BTW didn't you go inside the Mesdjid Hassan II? It's actually one of the few mosques in Morocco that is open for non-muslims and I found the interior even more spectacular than the outside.

Nice pictures. It looks like a good mix of an old Muslim city and a cosmopolitan place.

Interesting tour and great pictures. The French colonial influences on the city are quite noticeable. Also, Kittens!

Great to see pics of a part of the world not often seen here. Good job of showing variety of subjects. Looks like a decent city, though it seems a few more trash bins would come in handy.

Sorry, but I just had to include this:

Video Link

Thanks AX

God can you count how many satellite dishes are in this pic? What is up with that? Interesting pics to say the least but I have to agree with Raptor that the city looks dirty and a lot of buildings could use a fresh coat of paint. Thanks for posting these.
