don shoots First Friday in Phoenix and finds pedestrians in 100-degree heat

These are from the 6-2-08 First Friday event in Phoenix, and except for the first shot (taken at ISO 100) and the last shot (taken with the camera sitting on a flat surface), all were taken at ISO 1600 without a tripod. The high that day was 102 degrees, so it was probably about 95 degrees outside when these were taken.

Our music selection tonight:

Nice Shots

Whenever I have visited Phoenix, I have been amazed at how many people are out late.

Well in the summer its too hot to be out during the day, so night living is the way to go.

Nice pictures as always Don

When I lived there, before I can remember, my mom said that people did all their shopping and stuff in the late evening. That was the early 60's so air condition was just happening. It is interesting to see how people in different areas live with their weather. But isn't 95F pleasant since it is dry?

Interesting/nice shots.

The funny picture to me was of all the "oldies" loading up onto the trolley. I don't know about you, but I imagine the people taking the trolley are all the suburban peeps that come downtown once a month for the event. Most other people just fight for parking, or ride their bike there/walk there.

You missed several places I would have taken pictures of, but you got most of the crowds.

Its not bad, but not really 'pleasant'. At night it feels fine because the sun isn't beating down on you, thats why shade is so important in the Sonoran Desert, if you have shade, its never unbearable, even in the hottest points of summer. Its constantly being in the sun that kills you.

Considering that the bars close so early, I have always thought quite the opposite.
