Great thread! Really enjoyed it. With things getting so expensive here in Seattle I've been seriously considering checking out Boise to relocate to. This thread made me even more intrigued. Maybe time to return to my home state (CDA native)

Thanks everyone for the comments Morn, you seem to know that our main library! has an exclamation point on its sign? I don't have a photo of it but I can get one. My summer thread from this year has a lot more people photos or as I like to call them for SSP, paparazzi shots, of life in Boise and there is an earthy/progressive/spandex and somewhat hippy tone here for sure and not nearly as conservative as some outsiders think. The true hardcore hippies seem to migrate between Boise, Eugene, Portland and Seattle, they come and go.

Here are a few snowy update photos from this past weekend.

Saturday

Sunday after the storm clouds cleared and the snow melted off of all of that grass.

There's a ski resort up there waiting for more snow to open.

Great shots Sawtooth! I've been to Boise a coiple times and really liked its downtown. Always seemed like a laid-back and open-minded place. Love your snowy update shots, pretty colors.

How's gay life in Boise, anybody know? I'd be interested because ironically mormon cities have thriving gay nightlife.
I'm gay and live in Boise as well, It's lovely.. nobody really gives a shit.. don't expect a gayborhood… but there's businesses and bars etc that serve the gay community, and what's great is they're downtown amongst all the other businesses..pride flag out and all… how it should be

Thanks again for the comments everyone. The storm clouds and fresh snow were beautiful up on the mountains today, almost ethereal‎. I wish I would have had some time to take a few photos.

Boise certainly does have a gorgeous little skyline with a beautiful natural setting. Nice pics!

i didn't realize some people thought of boise as a mormon city. i just saw the latest demographics last summer for the treasure valley, and mormons are about 17% of the population, which while higher than most cities certainly doesn't make it predominantly mormon.

not that anyone here cares, though. this is very much a live and let live town.

Thanks!

Another update because there is almost two weeks left of Autumn despite the arctic cold snap.

These photos are from Saturday and Sunday after a snow storm and the temps were near 0, maybe 5 Fahrenheit during the day with a breeze. Boise does not usually get this cold.

You can feel the negative temps! Actually, I've been loving this dry cold weather. It's a refreshing counterbalance to the hot summers.

Beautiful update, Sawtooth! Thanks again for sharing these new pictures. Very nice pictures, as usual.

I love those very cold temps you´ve enjoyed this last weekend. The landscape with that fresh snow is wonderful. I see that the contrast between Summer and Winter in Boise is very high. Of course, I adore that bitterly cold better than very hot temps by the Summer.

I´d like to experience temps in the single digits. In the city of Madrid, for instance, we´re reaching actually daily highest temps over 50ºF even to 59ºF and lowest around 28ºF to 32ºF. In Madrid city it´s very unusal to reach temps below 23ºF. Definitely, this is not the Winter I love.

Looking forward to see more pics of Boise very soon.

Congrats and greetings from Madrid, Spain.

Beautiful snow pics, Sawtooth. Those temps sound a little scary to me, but the city still looks good. I especially like how those white ducks seem to glow against the snow.
