It will most likely stand out in the Pearl skyline as "Big Green" or something like that.

I'll refer to it as the 'Booger of the Pearl'.

Half the conditions of approval concern the water feature.

Far

I feel like in places such as the Pearl, a developer shouldn’t need to transfer FAR to build something like this. That’s somewhat true for all of Portland in my opinion, the FAR seems too restrictive and almost out of touch with height limits.

From the DJC:

Quote:
According to a project spokesperson, the building permits for the 21-story residential tower will be submitted this year. The Portland Design Commission approved the design for the Killian Pacific development last May. Webly will hold 280 apartments, 5,500 square feet of retail space at ground level and have 4.5 levels of underground parking. Bora Architecture & Interiors is the designer.

The overall design was approved last year; the detailed permit drawings have not yet been submitted. This is not an unusual schedule for such a large project.

With all of the economic and societal disruptions of the pandemic years not yet behind us, why is there such impatience when specific projects do not progress as rapidly as some would wish? We are not in the room when construction financing, cost of materials, or office or residential lease rates are discussed. We do not know if a project pencils out in the current market. So why complain that this town takes forever to get things done?

Honestly, I continue to be surprised at how much IS going up. Never thought the Press Blocks tower would be a go. More new projects starting in Slabtown. Right near me, the Thesis office, which truly boggles the mind, given how many people are still WFH. It almost feels like a little boom in my part of town.

A building permit application has been set up in the system, although is not yet under review.

Thankful this is progressing! There were a lot of small businessness that had to move out to accomodate this construction.
