The absolute destruction of the Bruins is now almost complete. Here is to many, many years in the basement for Boston. Nobody deserves it more than those cheaters.

EDIT: Kessel lasted longer in TO than Seguin and Hamilton in Boston.
And now Lucic gets traded to LA.

Bruins fans must be livid.

What makes it even better is oiler fans are having a mini meltdown over the flames landing Hamilton, they thought they would get him, maybe mcdavid can play defence too!

Wtf is the Boston GM doing? Doesn't matter how deep this draft is none of the guys in the mid-round look like they'll be anywhere near Hamilton's level at 22 years old.

Calgary got a steal.

Calgary still needs to sign Hamilton, so it's not a total steal just yet.

I don't think anyone said he's the best D in the league but he sure is in the top 20 at least. And he's only 22. Presently, this was a steal. Of course, years later it may not be so bad if Boston's picks turn out great.

It's weird that Boston would trade such a young player if they are in rebuild mode, which clearly they are. A 22 year old blue chip defenceman should be part of any teams rebuild program.

I think they were gonna lose him anyway. They have no cap space left so any team could have gave him an offer and Boston wouldn't be able to match. They would receive picks in return as compensation and those picks are worst than what they got from Calgary.

We should be out of the playoffs next season for sure. Meaning a way better draft pick.

The reason for the Bruins' fire sale is Chiarelli's horrible cap mismanagement of past seasons. It doesn't take a genius to have a look at the Oilers situation with contracts and Chia at the wheel and figure out that the same thing will beset the Oilers in a few years. The fire sale will be on the season after McDavid's entry-level contract goes into its final year. There's no way the Oil will be able to keep Hall, Nuge, Yak, Eberle, Nurse, Reinhart AND McDavid, plus find a serviceable goalie. Cause as we all know, it doesn't matter how much firepower you have up front, you ain't gonna get 16 wins in the playoffs without a top notch goalie.

Great moves by Buffalo yesterday. Tim Murray made good use of his stockpile of picks to get a starting goalie (Lehner) and a high-end forward (O'Reilly) to add to his "consolation" prize of Jack Eichel. Factor in the deadline acquisition of Evander Kane and the Sabres are looking like a force to reckoned with.

You can complain about their tactics and the (blatant?) tanking, but man, this team is shaping up fast.

I hope the Leafs are watching.

I think the peanut gallery would have had a fit if the Leafs traded draft picks for a guy like O'Reilly.

The Oilers pick up Talbot from the Rangers for 3 picks. Looks like they're starting to address their goals against issues.

It's hard to believe after all these years the Leafs are actually trying to build through the draft. Years/decades of looking for shortcuts and not taking taking draft picks seriously may finally be over.

I think the Leafs got a helluva player in Marner. The knock on him is his size, but the kid will beef up - his skating, shooting and puck-handling are amazing. You can't teach that those skills.
In a few years he'll be one of the better offensive players in the league.

Wow Oilers paid so little for Talbot. Ottawa got a lot more for Lehner.

Disappointed in our draft and to make matter worse, the prospect I wanted at 26 goes to Toronto (Bracco).

But what do I now? I was also disappointed we picked up a random D-man (McDonagh) and a guy with 3rd line potential (Pacioretty) in 2007. Also had no idea who that kid we picked in the 2nd round was (Subban)

Was also absolutely furious we "wasted" a top 5 pick on a goalie in 2005 (Price). We'll just wait and see. Most of the time when I don't like our picks, they turn out just fine.

Uh yeah, you were probably 2 when any of that happened.
