Here is a picture I took of the ornamental lighting on the Elks Tower, is this new? I know I just moved here, but I have been downtown many times and I don't recall the building being lit like this; I think it looks great regardless.

Hopefully I have a chance to post more. Also, does anyone have a site recommendation for image hosting?

Does your picture come with a pair of binoculars or a magnifying glass?

Photobucket is good for such things. The lighting on the Elks tower is new, probably a by-product of the restoration going on inside the building. Welcome, by the way!

Did anyone else notice innov8's terrific fullpage photograph of the Sacrmento skyline in this morning's Sac Bee? The photo is the centerpiece of an ad for the "Sacramento Destination 2030" event in Cesar Chavez Park on May 8.

I saw it on the back page of the North Sacramento regional section that the Bee runs on Thursdays. I'd imagine the photo ran in all of the Bee's regional supplements. (Roseville, Elk Grove, etc.)

Nice work, Mike! As soon as I saw the photo I knew you must have done it, even before I saw your name in the credits.

I would like to post the pic but I think innov8 should do that since he took it. Maybe it's already posted here but I haven't seen it.

Thanks for the tip Phillip, I did not know the Planning Dept. was going also
going to use it for a full page in the Bee Here's the oringinal photo,
they did some photoshop stuff to it so is filled the page.

Here's a sweet shot I took over the weekend... this view at night is so
impresive coming over the causeway. 500CM just glows at night.

Here a couple of more the Elks Tower i snapped tonight.. Not the best, but maybe Innov8 can snap a couple if he's out and about with his camera..

Looks like the lighting is permanent..

excuse the quality..

Yeah it really is and the photos don't do it any justice...

I like the lighting on the Elks better than 621CM

If you all get a chance, check out the "Structures" section of the Business Journal today.

Our very own Innov8 has a nice spread of his photos in there with a little writing up on him and his work.

Congrats!

I don't know, I kinda like that it's old and shitty. Fits the I street bridge well (I like the grittyness of it).

It's an overall great shot too. Nice work Mike. I think I have the one you took a couple years back just like it saved too.

That was the 1981 State Dept of Finance number I believe. This was prior to all of the growth in the Pocket area and of course, Natomas.

Sacramento hasn't annexed populated land since the late 60s

Thanks Mike I dig the grittyness too.

I don't think anyone sees this sign when crossing the bridge anyway, that’s
probably why it has not been updated in decades. It’s kinda wedged between the narrow support beams of the bridge.
