Oops. That's not good

That type of thing is prolific in the bar/ nightclub industry. The Needle is getting a drubbing in the media right now

Very unfortunate, but likely the right move.

The Needle will be closed until further notice. Due to threats made to multiple staff, we do not feel we can safely operate the venue at the present time.

Not trying to downplay the seriousness of a threat here but.. I feel like they are somewhat victimizing themselves by making it the only point in their statement to close doors.

The reality is that shows are canceling left right and centre and they have yet to make a public apology to right their wrongs.

Yeah I dunno the particulars. But this is all over the map with accusations, innuendo, threats, and a basket full of wtf.

This has got a lot of media attention. By the sounds of how the media is portraying this...it sounds apocalyptic!

NYE festivities move to Legislature, fireworks at 9 PM
https://www.edmonton.ca/attractions_...-downtown.aspx

If no fireworks at midnight then I ain't gonna bother going. I'll just hit up a club, pay a ridiculous ticket charge for the privilege of drinking low-shelf champagne and getting hit on by random drunk chicks.

I was not pleased with the 9pm only. It certainly is popular for families and I like the 9pm/midnight idea like last year, but budgets only allow for one and because it is at the Leg, 9pm was decided.

Gee, and what is it, 13,000 people live DT - not an issue for them?

If families want a 9 p.m. show, go to Millwoods.

Dumbass idea for the DT show

We/I certainly wanted a midnight show, but there were a lot of negotiations to make this happen.

I have expressed that we want the traditional midnight show back in 2yrs when the construction is done.

*Let me be very clear here, I was not apart of this nor included. This was the COE/GOA.

Looks like a jazz club called Brass Tacks is opening - or is open - in the former Brittany's space on 97 St. Can't find anything on the www yet though.

Awesome story.

That said, for the love of all things holy, don't let Air Canada read this particular paragraph:

"Over time, however, Edmonton’s location — and, in particular, the lack of direct flights from New York — came to feel like a plus, rather than a minus."
