No, it is not worth saving. Many people use "historical" and "old" synonymously. The Piedmont Doctors Building is hideous old building and thankfully is being replaced by something more modern and grand.

BTW, here is an updated rendering of the new hospital tower replacing it.

It's definitely curved, but I am not sure of the height. I still don't see how this thing is $600+ Million when CODA in Midtown is much bigger and is only $350 Million. I might tweet Trump and have him do a cost analysis on it.....

AMC Theatre, Publix to anchor Fuqua's big Memorial Drive project

AMC Theatre, Publix to anchor Fuqua's big Memorial Drive project

Quote:
A $250 million project called Madison Yards could bring an AMC Theatre and a Publix grocery store to Memorial Drive.

AMC is looking to open an eight-screen upscale theater at the 17-acre redevelopment of the former Leggett & Platt site in Reynoldstown, according to a source familiar with the deal. It would likely have reclining seats, reservation seating and a dine-in menu.
The slideshow includes some new renderings...

Just looking at a Fuqua development makes me all sorts of frustrated with living in Atlanta.

What makes it so frustrating is that it wouldn't take much at all to make this a nice urban project.

I was trying to figure out where the apartments were on the Atlanta Dairies site. I think this is right. I really like this development.

Absolutely worth saving. A great example of that period and style. As great a loss as the modern building on North and Peachtree that was torn down for the Proton center. Again, Atlanta not appreciating it's history and it's catalogue of historic buildings. Unfortunately, the most recent styles always tend to be considered out of fashion are considered ugly as styles change and react to their historic context. It takes some time and distance for them to be appreciated.

I kinda like the new building, but it's neither dramatic nor distinctive. It's just shinier and newer and taller.

These decorative arches really piss me off tbh. I appreciate the planters that separate the sidewalk from the cars on the bridge now, but the sidewalk/pedestrian experience on the east side of Peachtree just south of the bridge and west side of Peachtree just north of the bridge are harrowing to downright dangerous and we are spending money on hanging murals and arches on the bridge. The Peachtree complete street project, even in scaled back form, cannot come fast enough (unlike the cars whizzing by one foot away from the sidewalks today).
