Understated in its own way but beautiful.

I agree this would be worthy of even fronting Grant Park or the River let alone siding the Kennedy.
If built hopefully the decking of the Kennedy will not be long after. This deserves a better side backyard than an expressway.

What a week!!

I bet both related towers were designed to have 20 stories chopped off so it can seem like they listened to the public

Yeah if this doesn't get VEd I'll be shocked. I really really hope I'm shocked. This should be standard design practice not some sort of gift.

I know it's a different development being built by different architects and developers. I'd understand removing it completely like how some renderings of 150 N Riverside didn't include River Point and vice versa. But why change it so much?

Looks great. Im excited to see something this tall west of the Kennedy, but the straight line of highrises forming between Halsted and the Kennedy is starting to look a little forced and unnatural. Im assuming this was caused by WLCO and their opposition to highrises.

That building had to be photoshopped in... looks like every other building in the background was part of the original photo. Unfortunately, they just did a shitty job of photoshopping. You can see McDonalds under construction at the far right.

My guess is that One South Halsted was added in at the last minute by somebody inexperienced. Including One South Halsted makes 725 W Randolph look more appropriate and visually establishes the chain of highrises better than if they just showed Skybridge and Arkadia. If I were doing this rendering, I also would have "illuminated" The Parker as well, since right now it kind of fades into the cityscape.

Excellent, hitting all the marks. And the Kennedy canyonization is at full steam.

This will look huge from the west. River Point and 150 Riverside already loom larger than their true height due to their position.
How does the datum for this building compare to those two? This sits on higher ground, yes?

it's pretty damn cool. we've been waiting a good long while for it.

i wonder how much longer that complete waste of space shitbox walgreens can hold on for. that's a really big chunk of land.

Does the tower have a twist to it? Maybe it's just the rendering, but the angle of the top of the tower's east face doesn't match the angle of the base of the tower.

Everyone has their price! I wonder if that land is owned by Walgreens or being leased out to them? If its not owned by them, I would image that Walgreens would probably have a long term lease with language that would make it very expensive to break out of it early for either side. Landlord might just be waiting it out?

Like the RnR McD's, if I owned either of these lots I would sit on them for as long as I can make money, knowing that every day I am amassing a bigger and bigger fortune in land values. Yeah it sucks from an urbanity perspective, but it's a great business plan

Its understandable, really. They moved in first. Clearly, NOTHING can ever change again. Just like their previous home in some subdivision hellhole adjoining a cornfield 3 exits beyond the end of civilization on 88...
