MIAMI | Brickell World Plaza Phase II | 903 FT | FLOORS

Brickell World Plaza’s 903-Foot Second Phase Revived

Quote:
Brickell World Plaza’s second phase is once again being actively planned, apparently.

On January 20, 2016, developer Brickell Financial Center, LLC filed an application with zoning officials to divide the larger second tower into several phases, while otherwise keeping the plans exactly the same.

The project already has MUSP approval, with a smaller 40-story tower at 600 Brickell Avenue completed in 2011.

Phase 1 of the project included a 40-story tower with 505,303 square feet of non-residential space, mostly office. The building has been occupied since being completed.

The second phase is to include 463,483 square feet of office and retail, along with 364 hotel rooms and 134 condo units totaling 552,278 square feet. Development of that 903-foot tower will now be split into three separate phases.

Why is this a ridiculous looking building?

Some info from 2008 :
Parking is provided on each building and below ground
The Development has completed a major use special permit approval (“MUSP”).

Both phases will be Class A buildings.

The Development’s location next to the People Mover will also alleviate traffic congestion in the area by linking the Development to Downtown Miami, the Brickell Avenue area and through the Metro-Rail connection to Miami-Dade County in general.

Miami has been getting pretty good designs. I like it IMO. Like most cities, not everything can be a "wow" factor, but just this week, this stunner was revealed.

Not much discussion on it naturally on spp (Reason: Miami ), but nevertheless, its there.

This is for Phase I. Phase II will come later on.

Vertical Construction Underway At Brickell World Plaza

Quote:
Next to Brickell City Centre, Brickell World Plaza is now beginning vertical construction.

The first phase will include 478 parking spaces, along with around 15,000 square feet of restaurant and retail space on the ground and mezzanine levels.

The structure includes 1 story below ground connected to the existing 600 Brickell World Plaza Tower garage, and 12 stories above ground. A public plaza will be built adjacent to the garage, including both green and hardscape features.

The garage’s exterior cladding system will consist of precast architectural concrete panels and undulating perforated metal panels all of which will be backlit by color changing LED lights.

Later, the plaza will be demolished for a future phase which will include hotel, condos and more parking in a 904-foot tower.

Completion of the first phase is scheduled for late 2019.

Moss Construction is the contractor, with HOK the architect.

Idk it just looks awkward as a prominent skyscraper. Looks like something a child would design

Yes. It's not a knock to Miami. I'd live there over Chicago, for example, any day, but its architecture is largely lame.

What is actually under construction is a ~10 story or so parking garage, not the 903 foot tower.

I take it that's the garage and not the tower?

Yeah its the parking garage. Retail and restaurants along with the parking are part of the first phase.
