Spent a week in Perth, the main purpose was to visit family there. Was a nice city, has the Mediterranean climate but in winter it rains a lot, but the weather changes every 5 minutes. It is a fast growing city and now has a population of 2.1 million, they are adding a new rail line to the airport and are going to get a new one to the northern suburbs at some point.
It's on the Indian Ocean and has beautiful beaches, fancy birds in the trees and lush gardens. Lemon and Orange trees in most everyone's yard, very nice. It is not as busy or bustling as Melbourne or Sydney and some say a little sleepy. It is similar to Vancouver in some ways more so than Melbourne but Vancouver has more bustle.
Suburb
controversial pedestrian bridge
outside the air bnb had a nice seating area
went to a koala place, they are not native to western australia so they have a place where you can see them and hold one
some exotic looking birds, forget what they were
western grey kangaroo
the other kind
expensive import
most plants there would be houseplants in Canada
a first look at Freemantle - apparently anything that opens here never lasts
The Aviary - mixed retail, restaurants etc. Loud pumping house music would come from the restaurant on the 3rd floor up - also the entrance to the "perth underground" a couple of metro station lines, all connected to the main station
The massive casino complex
inside part of it
I think this was a park n ride as there was a station behind me
This is Elizabeth Quay, it is apparently a newer developed area, and there are a number of highrise condos going up, they start at just under $500,000 and go up in price.

Yes, the first few days it rained quite a few times, but there would be sunny breaks. Then one afternoon a big storm rolled in off the ocean and there were heavy rains and wind, some trees got knocked down i guess. But after that, it was sunny and might get a few minutes of a shower. But it was like heavy downpours when it did rain. Lots of puddles.
