Washington DC: Dupont Circle and Itchy Eyes

A lovely day in the nation's capital. Hot as blazes with 90 degrees in April and more pollen than my itchy watery eyes can bear. But I was able to put up with enough of nature's minor irritations to take in a ball game and a few of D.C.'s top-notch destinations. Capitol Hill is pretty de rigueur but the rest of the day outstanding, minus my burning eyes and runny nose (Claratin isn't helping!) Anyway, here are the pics from a hot and pollen filled April 7th in Dee-Cee. Enjoy.

Ciao from DC

Great thread. I will only say that there is a certain something about DC that is a bit tougher to capture in photo threads. I think a lot of photo threads lack people in them, but this one is a lot better than most in this respect. Good job.

Next time, if you get a chance, check out Eastern Market near Capitol Hill, the residential areas of Capitol Hill and Hill East have gotten a bit better over the past decade or so.

When I get a chance, one of these days I will do a photo thread of areas above the lettered streets in DC.

Love it! Thanks for the shot of the Nationals Park. I haven't seen it yet! Hopefully I will live up there soon if I can figure out how to afford it

Nice shots. I almost expected to see myself in the first group. Doesn't look like you quite made it far enough east to go by my house, but got within a block or two.

Great thread!

I just love Washington DC, it's one of my most favorite American cities. I also think it's incredibly underrated in terms of being a tourist destination/urban center. I love the colonial architecture and variety of different urban neighborhoods. It's a shame that DC doesn't really get the "cool" reputation factor it deserves!

The city looks so much cleaner than when I used to live there. Really cool...nice and tight (i.e.quaint). It's almost like a small neighborhood kind of feel. I was there last month and it felt very different...Love that New Stadium!

While I don't think that DC does possess the "cool" factor, I think most people do think of it as an urban center, and its a huge tourist destination in most people's eyes, just maybe that people might think that theres nothing to do besides visiting museums, monuments, etc.

Cool photos, hope to visit DC sometime.

Swiney, I enjoy the way you include the people in your tours. No exception here. Good stuff, and I was sneezing my head off that day too.

This is a great little gem:

Thanks.
