Excellent news! This one should be U/C in no time if it is indeed financed (or very close to it) and it will rise along with 432 Park, 225 W57th and 107 W57th.
2013 is shaping up to be another good year for New York.
Site is pretty well boarded up so this is the best I could do, but clearly a pilling machine is on site. The street on the opposite side of the photo was shut down today as well to set up a crane for that Baccarat Tower.
Photo's mine.

I am obviously ecstatic about the news. But I have been up and down with this tower in the past and too many times, so I'll hold off on dancing in my living room.

Good shot. Clearly something is going on there.

“Office buildings are our factories – whether for tech, creative or traditional industries we must continue to grow our modern factories to create new jobs,” said United States Senator Chuck Schumer.
Went by again today and it was just the pilling machine again, but it was active with workers on site and the pilling machine had been moved from the spot I'd photographed it in.
Side note, there's a full tower crane up for the Baccarat Tower on 53rd. I'll grab a photo laster this week.
Exactly, if this one is really happening, it would take some months until we see it at street level, by then 432 park will be several stories above ground.
FALSE ALARM-it is not a pile drill-it is a test drill. This means work could be a week ( if it for the contractor) or a year ( if it for the engineer) from now. There is no other equipment on site.
The site had workers earlier this week, and the pilling machine was active on a different part of the site on Tuesday.

The drill is from Warren George-a test driller not a contractor. The time span is typical of construction. A design engineer has test drilling done when it is planning the work. A contractor does it before starting work to make sure of the actual ground conditions. At least, this is how we do it in New York.
To me this seems odd as coring samples would have been taken when the building was designed. This is because engineers need to know how close to place pilings in order to carry the structure and the height possible. They would not waste this kind of money designing the structure if they had no idea if it was possible in this location. Can they not use those original core samples? They should be the same.
