Big 3 eyeing Hudson Yards

By STEVE CUOZZO
April 11, 2013

Time Warner, Citibank and Ralph Lauren Polo could be the next big companies to move to mammoth new Hudson Yards on the Far West Side. All three have had talks with Hudson Yards developer Related Cos. about taking space in the 26-acre site’s second planned skyscraper, sources said.

Time Warner hires Eastdil to market its New York headquarters

By Ilaina Jonas
Apr 11, 2013

Quote:
Time Warner Inc said on Thursday that it has hired Eastdil Secured LLC's Doug Harmon to market its headquarters to determine how much the building would fetch should the company decide to sell it.

The media conglomerate's 1.1 million square-foot headquarters is part of the larger Time Warner Center. Within the larger center, which was completed in 2004 and includes a Mandarin Oriental hotel, a shopping mall, underground parking and condominiums, Time Warner owns only its headquarters.

But Time Warner owns or rents 15 locations within the New York metropolitan area and is looking to shrinking its footprint and consolidate.

The company is weighting various options, including keeping the building and consolidating within it, or selling the tower and leasing it back. It also could sell the building and consolidate within a couple of buildings, Cocozza said.

Time Warner has been scouting possible locations in the Hudson Yards project being built on Manhattan's far west side. It also could consolidate at the Time Life Building in midtown and additional space downtown at the World Trade Center or the nearby World Financial Center, now called Brookfield Place.

The company expects to make a decision and finalize a plan before the end of the third quarter, Cocozza said.

I wonder what they will call the Time Warner Center if and when Time Warner does move.

Maybe it depends on who would move in.

Time Warner could decide to stay at TWC, and move some of its other headquarters to the Hudson Yards, but I'm still skeptical they would move to the north tower. But everything is on the table now.

I'm excited for this observation deck too. I'm sure Related will eventually release a video similar to the Freedom Tower video that was released. There's room for everyone.

After we lost the twin towers back in 2001, I'd never thought I'd see the day when Manhattan would host this many supertalls that extend beyond what we expected.

I expected a few supertalls back at ground zero, but to see this many in Midtown as well is just icing on the cake that continues to grow the skyline.

It's amazing to know that people are no longer afraid to "think big" !!

This tower would look even greater have it been stretched to 500 meters.

Thanks guys... there is already a diagram for the south tower. It's the wrong height though, so maybe I'll get around to making my own drawing of it one of these days, but I really have my hands full with Toronto developments.

Love the new diagram picture. This thing is going to be the most dominating and futuristic looking tower in the city.

I don't like this new addition to NYC its a nice building, but not in NYC or at least a lined with the Empire State Building. It blocks the empire state

one of the most iconic views from the river gone

I don't really think that the loss of one viewing angle is worth millions of square feet of new office and residential space. Not to mention thousands of square feet of new public and cultural space. And all of this over space that is currently completely unusable? Views aren't guaranteed.

I think I'll just go a mile down the river and enjoy the view from a different angle.

It can be assumed Related is already pursuing tenants for the North Tower, correct?

Wow! Are you kidding? What a great modern 21st century complex for NYC. I love the sleek lines and think it contrasts beautifully with ESB's classic look.

Who said that it would block the Empire State Building? This rendering here should clear things up. The Empire State Building would be in the center of the two towers.

A NIMBY! I also love the ESB but NYC is not in 1931 anymore. A new icon for NYC is needed. This would be the New New York!

That only shows the two buildings. We know there are more towers planned that will obliterate the view of the ESB from that angle.

This nonsense about blocking the view of the Empire State is just that, nonsense. But it is amazing at how often it comes up.
