Not a fan of the design of the station. Looks like something regurgitated from the 1970's.

Piling Work At MiamiCentral Nearly Complete, All Aboard Florida Gets Green Light For $1.75B Financing

Quote:
All Aboard Florida received approval yesterday from a Florida board to issue $1.75 billion in tax-free bonds, just as the company is completing piling work at the MiamiCentral station.

The company will now be able to pay off $405 million worth of bonds issues last year that sold at a 12 percent interest rate, which were used to begin work on stations and tracks in the Miami area. The yield on those bonds had drifted up to nearly 15 percent in light trading at one point.

The new bonds will be unrated. However, the interest rate will likely be lower than last years sale, which were riskier and contained several provisions that were investor unfriendly.

Marketing for the bonds will begin within a month. The debt sale must be completed by the end of the year to retain tax-exempt status, but legal challenges from Treasure Coast governments are still pending.

At MiamiCentral, all 1,600 piles have now been drilled, with each reaching a depth of 100 feet. Workers were seen starting track work in the area last week, along with new pilings for piers that will help elevate the rail track 50 feet above street level.

Total cost of the project is estimated at $2.5 billion, with AAF investing $700 million in equity.

just posting in this Thread because i like this building/station/shopping center.
also to make the point about the difference in trains arriving.
this NEW station paid for by AAF will be the new Tri-rail Miami station.

Tri-Rail posted its highest paid daily ridership in the commuter-rail system's 24-year history on June 24, 2013. It transported 19,060 people, many of whom attended a "victory parade" for the Miami Heat, which won the 2013 National Basketball Association national championship. Most trains operated at or near capacity, SFTRA officials said in a press release. Special four-car sets were operated to accommodate the anticipated overflow crowd. Previous Miami Heat victory parades resulted in high ridership counts for Tri-Rail, as well. On June 23, 2006, Tri-Rail transported 18,613 riders; and on June 25, 2012, the agency carried 18,355 passengers.

yeah I still get that sometimes also. hopefully its 70's good not 70's bad.
maybe modern retro? if the street level and shopping mall is good that helps.
most important is the location downtown nearby everything.
The AAF people seem to be doing a very good job.

I'm always critical of design especially with a private company like FECI who has deep pockets that can build a aesthetically pleasing train station in downtown Miami.
Instead they have chosen a design that reminds me of the Port Authority Bus Terminal in midtown Manhattan.

^ Not pretty!

The functionally redeeming value of this station is that will connect BrightLine ( All Aboard Florida), Metro Rail , Metro Mover , MetroBus & Tri-Rail Commuter Rail all in one place.
In Addition that they are building towers on top of the rail station too.

No Way - I see what your saying but its not that bad dude.
did you see the color video ?? at night its gonna be cool.
daytime the white concrete and steel reminds me of the new world trade center train station.

YES YES the transportation center of Dade county. Plus the building looks like its built very well for storms and floods. nice with the tracks 50 feet up and shopping underneath.
