Gators are generally pretty docile. You can get quite close when they're being lazy. You don't want to press your luck though. At least that's been my experience. I should probably let him answer though.

Nice set Haux.

No concern. These nature preserves have boardwalks with railings. It was about 10 feet away and in the water. The boardwalk was a couple of feet above the water, and a gator can't slip through the railings.

My folks live down there in the winter. It's a much more interesting city than most would think.

I LOVE the crazy cars these people have. It's absurd how much some of these cost. Most of them are likely owned by the people who live on the island of Palm Beach, not West Palm Beach. Like this Rolls-Royce. It's a $400,000 car. No one on the mainland owns something like that.

The closed windows and doors are probably seasonal homes. Since it's summer, the wealthy people with winter homes here move back to the North and Northeast. They board up their windows while they're away because it's hurricane season. There are a lot of condos like this along the water.

I have a soft spot for these mid century places. Kind of boring, but very homey to me.

Knowing you, you're serious. However, I wish someone else had written this, in jest, because it would be funny. Nice pictures, and Palm Beach is "pitcturesque", but the place makes me sick (along with Sunny Isles and other drab places of extreme wealth for no reason).

There is no middle class in PBC, but there is vast poverty that nobody probably even cares about or knows about...just all the fly by night millionaires and foreign millionaires/inherited millionaires who never had to work a day in their lives, never invented anything, never really contributed, etc and only spend part of the year in Palm Beach anyway (most of the area is dead in the summer). Boca no better.

Maybe head south to photog Delray Beach? At least there are families there, some walkability and a cute scene, and it's still nice but less pretentious! Atlantic Ave...

I actually drove out to Canal Point and Pahokee a month or so ago because I wanted to check out Lake Okeechobee. The unemployment rate is really high there, and the poverty is right there before your eyes. It's so strange that a mere 60 miles away there are people with $40,000-a-month water bills.

There hasn't been a middle class since 1971.

I went to the Flagler Museum on Founder's Day in June and finally got around to uploading them. Henry Flagler was the ultra-wealthy founder of Palm Beach and is credited with making Florida a tourist destination. He founded Standard Oil and the Florida East Coast Railway.

This is the absurd home he lived in.

The ceilings are elaborate. They were pretty fun to photograph. How interesting to have a different ceiling in every room.

I also took some pictures of Palm Beach from West Palm. It's difficult to get decent pictures on the island because everything has 10-foot hedges surrounding it.

Mar-a-Lago by raptoralex, on Flickr
This is the Mar-a-Lago Club, an exclusive club for the multimillionaires there. Donald Trump owns it. He has a home at the club, and I think he's got a home on the North End, which is where all the gigantic estates are.

These mansions are on the Intracoastal Waterway (not the ocean). None of them sells for less than $3 million. That's just an estimate. They probably go for no less than $8 million.

There are some cool older (for south FL) housing stock in the run down areas in Progressive Northwest and parts of Northwood I've been meaning to photograph, at obvious right times of the day.

With more rail coming into downtown WPB and City Place becoming an even major focus, could to be interesting to see if gentrification will take place in those areas sooner than thought.
