() /-\ |< |_ /-\ /\/ |) (100th Thread Edition)

I considered doing a recap of my work posted on this site given that this is my hundredth photothread, but I decided that it would be more fitting to do yet another photothread on the city that's already been the subject of 73 of my threads. To those that have followed my project from the beginning up until now, thanks for doing so. Thanks also to the amazing photographers on here who've inspired me countless times to step my game up. I'd like to think I've gotten better than when I first started posting.

Anyway, in this thread I covered areas in North, East, West and Downtown Oakland, some new that I haven't covered previously and some old.

Here's the neighborhoods featured in this thread:

Longfellow
Lakeside
Golden Gate
Gaskill
Santa Fe
Civic Center
City Center
Merritt
Clinton
Crocker Highlands
Trestle Glen
Dogtown
Oak Center
Ralph Bunche
Lynn
Clawson

There's also a couple shots of Emeryville. These pictures are not in chronological order.

Great tour. Looks like you really hit the pavement. I think your style has evolved nicely. 100 threads, that's impressive.

Sensational work, Nineties!

Thanks for these beautiful pictures from Oakland.

I see very pretty neighbourhoods and houses there. I like Tribune tower too and your perspectives of the streets.

Congratulations and greetings from Madrid, Spain!

congrats on your milestone. you're king of the oaktown beat like you're too $hort and it's 1988.

57 looks less like urban oakland and more like my rural hometown. 67 is just a travesty. great tour, really nice mix of subjects.

You are no doubt one of the best storytellers on this site. I haven't spent much time in Oakland, but you have flawlessly captured both reality and perception of the Land of the A's. Excellent work.

Honestly I wasn't quite expecting the response I've been getting to this thread haha. Thanks everybody for commenting.

@GiovanniSasso, it's funny that you pointed that out. Now that I think about it, almost all of the grandest Victorians in West Oakland are liquor stores. I'm not joking either... at least 5 other examples come to mind right now. I wonder why that is.

Before I found your threads I knew nothing of Oakland.
Now, I love it. Great job!

You've represented Oakland well and showed me parts of the city I've work in for nine years that I've never seen. Great photos!

On that note, I think I'm going to do a thread or to on other parts of the East Bay before I do another Oakland thread. Maybe San Leandro or a 2nd Richmond thread.

Monsieur Flav:

As always, you present a brilliant kaleidoscope of Oakland, from its mean streets and beaten souls, to its soulful and beat-driven bohemian climes, and from the bustling apartment neighborhoods to the beautiful, serene tree-lined streets of Trestle Glen and its gracious homes and mansions. It's quite a city, and you're quite the chronicler of its journey.

All I can say is, without your exposure to Oakland, it would have never been in my top favorite US cities! I really enjoy the crispy cleanliness of your shots and the composition in some of them are genius IMO.

I hope I can get to half this many threads before the summer's over...
