For the through-traffic, yes I believe it then heads off on the "green line" (I don't believe anything transfers from the red line to the UP line).

Before, stuff was coming/going as far as Elgin. Now they're reopening (or proposing to reopen) the section between Elgin and Giddings.

It can be really late at night/early morning.

Brandywine's zoning change request to allow for those 360' buildings in the Broadmoor development has been postponed again - to the 01/23 Planning Commision meeting. This zoning change request has been in process for over a year.

Hopefully the city manager hire will get things going on the right track. We really need Code Next Approved and Adler to get re-ellected. Adler losing to Laura Morrison would be devastating.

for instance, they may run 15 minute frequencies, even if 10 trains would allow (hypothetically) 13 minute frequencies to make scheduling easier to understand. Or to limit wear and tear (and maintenance requirements). Or to limit staffing requirements and fuel usage. Or simply because they calculate that it wouldn't increase ridership on a normal day (but potentially could for special events).

there's also the fact that they normally keep at least one spare vehicle, but I believe they may use it (go without a spare) for special events like SxSW.
This is all fair. Currently, there are 4 or 5 trams running at most times and 1 or 2 in reserve or in maintenance.

Nothing new in this story, but Community Impact has a few quotes from the developers who are (obviously) optimistic about Broadmoor and HQ2

Developers plan to request a zoning change from Austin City Council to allow for taller structures to be built on the site, which would expand the property’s capacity, Anderson said.

Brandywine's zoning change request for Broadmoor continues to get postponed. It's been moved to the February Planning Commission meeting:

Public feedback requested for Austin Energy site near Crestview Rail Station

Not sure if this is the right place to post but they're asking for public feedback for use on an old Austin Energy site. This is the one directly across the tracks from Blackstar Co-op, at Crestview Rail Station.

Location: https://www.google.com/maps/@30.3354.../data=!3m1!1e3

It's a longer survey but not too bad.

The "how long have you lived in Austin" question was a bit offputting, and there were a lot of questions dedicated to common-use/park space (without an option for "IDGAF, just make it connected and mixed-use and tall"). But yes, it was long, so take out 15mins or so for it.

Not that I want to unduly influence anyone's opinions, but please keep in mind that the workgroup is sponsored by Crestview Neighborhood Association (a once moderate group now very heavily aligned with anti-development ANC leadership), and CM Leslie Pool (no intro needed). Left to themselves, they would probably decide on a 4 acre dog park with park and ride (for the 1 time a year they go to the pecan st festival).

Please let them know that this small parcel needs transit-focused multifamily. (mixed income a plus).

Not sure who comes up with some of these ideas... an outdoor performing arts space next to one of the only train stops in central Austin? These same people would probably raise holy hell if an actual musical performance was audible from their homes.

Thanks for posting the link. I just took the survey. And the performance space/amphitheater idea on that land is just crazy. Ranked that as low as possible.

The tower in the corner of Braker/Burnet has glass probably halfway installed. It looks like a huge building when you're headed NW on 183.

The office being built by Whole Foods, Domain 11 I believe, also has glass going up. Not sure how many floors are left.

Yeah, the front is almost entirely wrapped minus the diagonal split that goes through it. It's fun seeing it every morning while dropping off the kiddo at daycare.

Speaking of that area, does anyone have any info on what looks like an apartment complex just south of that on the east side of Burnet? (here: https://www.google.com/maps/@30.3864...7i13312!8i6656)

Am I the only one who finds this thread overly-broad now? I'm not calling you out loonytoony, this is probably the right spot given the current thread organization, but grouping the Domain and Crestview together doesn't seem accurate.

For instance, the crestview site in question is actually closer to UT (3.5 miles) than it is to the Domain proper (3.7 miles).

For the longest time, this thread was titled "Domain/North Burnet/Gateway Projects & Redevelopment" (which is probably an appropriate grouping, given the PUD zoning shared by that area), before being renamed last year.

Grouping PUD projects with Crestview infill projects (and the NIMBY challenges those face) just gets confusing.

No worries at all. It just seemed the closest thing to relevant. Perhaps we could start a Central infill thread and/or something related to Highland Mall area. There's a lot of development going on around there. Plus if CodeNEXT pushes through we'll likely see more of these types of projects.

There is a thread devoted to Highland Mall redevelopment. We could expand it to include North Central Austin which would separate North Austin into two threads. The Domain thread would be the other.

Personally (this is my own opinion, so feel free to disagree) I think of Anderson Lane as the demarcation line between a North Burnet/Gateway development thread and Central Austin Infill development thread for upcoming and under construction projects. Mueller, East Austin, Highland, and West Campus should continue to have their own threads, however.

http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/show...149694&page=22
http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread.php?t=216950
http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/show...167754&page=11

(I can't find the link for West Campus, though I know it exists...)

There are also, and should also be, threads for South Austin, South Lamar (specifically), and the South Central Shore (I.E. immediately across the river from downtown):

http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/show...203271&page=10
http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/show...201053&page=24
http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/show...199758&page=13

In that vein, if we're gonna add a thread for Central Infill, for simplicity's sake maybe also fold the currently existing threads for the Austin Oaks PUD and The Grove at Shoal Creek into that thread?

http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/show...=216463&page=6
http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/show...=213043&page=4

If that strikes your fancy, then we could also probably merge the currently existing threads for Oracle and Catalyst (and perhaps a few others I'm not thinking of) into an East Riverside thread?
