Pretty sexy tower. Looks like Moscow is building its own La Defense.

Lol, I'll take this as a great compliment. I like Russia... And I like you and your camera too.

For real, Russian friends do like la Déf', cause it's large enough already. It's been developed for 50 or so years. That's quite some significant time already to me. Their towers in their Moscow International district are fewer than ours, but they're much taller than we are yet.

It looks kinda odd in their skyline for now, but then they'll get more and more. And more. And even more...

Maybe more like Allen Center, as it is probably hiding the Russian Enrons.

I doubt it. Russian economy is tanking and this complex is mostly empty space, planned long before the current economic crisis and energy slump.

But it's a very sexy looking complex.

when this mammoth construction is completed, it will house about 300,000 people and 11 buildings, the federation tower, the OKO tower, the mecury city tower, the eurasia tower, the capital city complex, the embankment tower, the eveloution tower, the imperia tower, the renaissance moscow towers, the grand city moscow, and the IQ quarter. Although in a international business center full of tall skyscrapers the federation towers really stand out. Nothing is taller than it.

30 million people? i think that's overbuilding a bit, considering it's 2x Moscow's population.

And not just residents. Including people who work there and tourists who stay in the MIBC s hotels.

Not sure if you're joking or if this was simply an innocent error on your part but it's quite impossible that this will house 30 million people. I think you need to downgrade your estimate by several orders of magnitude.

FT December update

The Federation Tower has been topped out by December of this year. Cladding installed, should be opened next New Year.

Mabye a few. I don't think anybody is very sure about this question but that's that, more or less, I think. And I do not think that the FT would be sitting along the river without anything in it. Do you want to check it yourself, or should I?

Skyline Photos Show Europe's Tallest Building Nearly Finished

Quote:
A pair of skyscrapers 95 and 63 floors tall rise from a shared nine-storey podium. The 374- and 243-metre towers, developed by Potok, contain residential and office uses. The shorter building, Tower West, finished in 2008. The taller of the two, Tower East, faced numerous delays that plagued construction. All work on the tower was halted in 2008 when the global economic recession hit Russia. The building stalled at a height of 170 metres until 2011, when construction finally resumed.

Workers weren't out of the woods yet though. A blaze in 2012 broke out on the 67th floor, subsequently requiring major repairs. But with the tower now topped out and cladding enveloping the vast majority of the structure, it looks like most of these troubles can be forgotten. Recent photos from Flickr users Bajtai Tamás and René Conny Heinen show the district's immense size, with the Federation Towers peaking in the centre.
