In hare news, I saw one downtown on 11th Ave while walking to The Camera Store, bringing my urban hare (A phrase I coined ) count to a whopping 2. There must be some mysterious park they gather at.

Stumbled on the 10 tallest buildings in Calgary page on Wikipedia back in '04 and was looking for additional information on the "new Encana" building. A few google searches later I found SSP.

I had just moved to Calgary from Edmonton and was kind of looking at buying a condo. I was still pretty naive about the Calgary market and development in general here, and was walking around downtown and saw them excavating for a place called Livingston Place. Being from Edmonton I never even thought it could have been an office building, since I hadn't ever really seen one under construction before (is that too mean to our Edmonton neighbours?...). I thought this looks like a good area to buy, so went home and googled for it, and this forum came up. Was surprised to see it wasn't condos, but was glad to find such a wealth of information with very knowledgable people. Lurked for about 8 months before I finally got an account.

The first thread I found was the original Calgary Construction Thread, before they had post limits. It was about 6000 posts in, and I remember I went back to page one and read every single one until I caught up. That took more than a few lunch hours and evenings at home (hey, I was new in town and didn't know a lot of people)...

Was aware of the diagram page from a Wikipedia article. Google kept dropping me here for searches on Calgary buildings and transportation. Eventually clued in that maybe I should just be reading over here all the time.

I was referred to this site from a coworker (Surrealplaces). I had skyline pictures on my screensaver and he noticed it one day, the rest is history.

Was actually looking for info on the rumour I heard about drawings for a verticle extension of the Calgary Tower existing at the U of C. Found SSP. That was 2 years ago.

I used to take pictures of the local Calgary stuff for Emporis, but got frustrated at how badly out of date the site was.

In one of the discussion threads at Emporis, people were talking out SSP, and I checked it out. I haven't done anything with Emporis since then.

I'm glad I was able to get some others involved in SSP. Jimby, your photos have been a real plus for the site.

vid's lives in Thunder Bay, his funny detector is overloaded with naked hookers on his lawn trying to bum smokes from the crazy guy cooking death-smelling steaks in the basement, all while his dad leaves phone messages for his dog.

He simply cannot handle any more funny in his life.

Ditto. After coming back from a trip to Japan and becoming interested in their rail transit, I found Steve's LRT site and eventually to SSP... been here on and off since!
