No problem, thanks for the pics! The site looks larger than I thought, this will be one large supertall. Looks like we’re going to need a camera and stick to get over the black trapped blockade.

I agree. In addition to this tower, large new towers are planned on 57th Street at:

225 W 57th;
250 East 57th; and
57th and Park.

Not to mention, the Torre Verre is nearby.

Have we seen a rendering of this building yet? I'd like to see what it looks like but don't have time to check out the entire thread.

Also, is the roof height 1005 feet or is that the spire height? or do we even know if there is a spire?

306m is the roof height. That told me a guy from CTBUH who visited the site. He also said, if the building has a spire, it will be much taller. But 306m is currently the correct figure and roof height. It needs to be updated here: http://skyscraperpage.com/cities/?buildingID=82104

The surrounding buildings are beautiful, detailed, pre-WWII buildings. You see the backs of them which were never intended to be visible to anyone and won't be visible again when the new tower rises.

I wonder if the height has been increased to 80 floors.

It's really hard to bleive that there is a supertall U/C in NYC, and no rendering.

Excavation was about a year and a half ago. They had been doing site prep work, but quietly moved into construction mode while permits were finalized.
However, even though the buildng is under construction, financing is not complete. Supposedly they are getting the hotel portion finalized.

The completion date is 2012 (says CTBUH). Could this be true?

These media types don't always get it right. They could be counting the sublevels. Plans filed with the buildings dept. list 75 above ground floors.

It’s very possible that they are holding off releasing the renderings to the public until the financing is complete.

^ That and the longer they hold off on releasing anything, the less time any anti-Tower Verre types have to bitch and whine.

I was under the impression that Arabar is financing this.
