Friend of mine plans to move into the Gables when it opens and just received an email saying, "Due to construction delays outside of our control, the new projected date of unit delivery is October 2019"

I didn't get a photo since I was driving, but the old brick facade of the Gingerman building has finally started going back up.

The Gingerman facade is back up. I think this is one of the rare projects where the finished product looks better than the renderings.

It did take a painfully long time for the project, but I do like all the detail.

Oh, absolutely. Worth the wait. This is going to be full of rave reviews on the exterior which is all I care about since I'll never see what's inside, which I can only imagine has a ton of fine details also. I do love the brick. Are the bricks used on the Gingerman faux façade the original brick? If so, they found the perfect match for the rest of the building's brick work.

I love it when I'm wrong....I love it even more when I'm surprised with how wrong I was.... This baby turned out lovely on the outside. We need more classic designs like this.
The base reminds me of one of my favorite Chicago skyscrapers--77 W Wacker (United). I am all about postmodern architecture and think it'll be back in the 2020s

I really love this project too. But it is up their with the Fairmont as one of the most troubled projects in the history of Downtown Austin construction.

We would joke about the one construction worker that building the Zaza, then on other days he would head down to 70 Rainey to work on that....

I guess we see which building came out the winner there....

In an AAS article a day or two ago, there was mention of major shortages in skill construction labor. The worst in 35 years. This is no doubt affecting current and upcoming construction projects. And we're certainly not the only city with multiple construction projects going on. And the low unemployment rate isn't helping quench the demand. Its a fact of life in Austin that for the time being, its going to take longer get things done aound here or to get things started.

Lots of fun lighting has been added to the building and was on last night.

That's gonna look fucking cool. Is that going to be the main entrance to the building?
