'Huge year' expected for construction as P.E.I. building permits soar.

Even with the P.E.I. construction industry stretched to the limit, developers are filing building permits at increasingly high rates.

Permits filed in the first four months of 2019 passed a value of $102 million, 27 per cent above the pace set in 2018, and almost double the pace in 2017........

New Charlottetown hotel connects with P.E.I. utilities.

City of Charlottetown workers were putting in a utility line Thursday for the 105-room hotel on Kent Street, the property that was once home to the Myron’s nightclub.
Even though it is not a city project, Homburg Atlantic Inc., the owner of the hotel, asked the city to do the work. Homburg will pay all costs for the work although the city will take care of the repaving work.

The new Arts Hotel (next to Hopyard) is expected to be opened in May 2020.

The old Sears building is almost fully leased. Only 20,000 sqft left out of 110,000.

Is this the one off of Centennial? It backs on an empty lot across from Belvedere Dental?

Where are they getting those population numbers? Charlottetown is still well below 40,000 people as of the last census.

There has been and still is quite an explosion of population the last few years. So you'd better
ask the city! It was on CBC so they had to get the info from city hall.

The title of that graph referred to the Charlottetown population centre [POPCTR], which is a statistical measurement used by Statistics Canada. It roughly refers to a city’s continuous built up urban area, which is different than the municipal population, the census agglomeration (CA) or the census metropolitan area (CMA).

This is one of a few buildings under construction in the Sherwood Industrial park. As you can see the building across the street is undergoing expansion too.
