Supposedly it did sell back in 2007 well in excess of its $12 million asking price in a bidding war.

I had heard that Bob Rennie himself bought it, but I don't know if that is true... I can't remember why I thought it was for sure, now

In my Googling for a name all I could find was that David Foster shelled out $6 million for a 2600 sq. ft unit in the building~

The suite in the video is the "Chairman's Suite" which is the top two levels above the pool (i.e. the podium) along with the entire terrace above that low rise. Approx. $6000/night for the suite IIRC.

The "penthouse" pictured prior is in the residences and is owned and not for sale at the present time.

Not sure if this was posted here yet.. From the Edmonton Journal

"Several sources told The Journal that Katz purchased the penthouse suite at the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel in Vancouver, and has lived there for much of this year.A couple of years ago, he bought the top floor of the Pacific Rim hotel/condo project, on the waterfront right next to the Vancouver Convention Centre. He is going back and forth and his Edmonton house is still fully staffed, including his security.”

The opulent, 48-storey hotel/condo project, developed by Vancouver-based Westbank Corp., opened for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.

The 415-room hotel occupies the bottom 22 floors of the tower, with 175 luxury condos located above, boasting spectacular views of Vancouver’s Coal Harbour, Stanley Park and the North Shore. When the condos hit the market last year, asking prices were reportedly about $2,300 per square foot. An unnamed buyer paid more than $15 million for the 6,000-square-foot penthouse suite, the Vancouver Sun reported at the time."

Westbank posted a bunch of new pics on their website. I took some screen shots below. i love this project. while the tower itself is nothing special, everything else is such quality. i spent an evening in the Gold club lounge and it was fantastic. the views alone are amazing.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but the patio on the north side of the hotel has been improved dramatically. The 'tent' structures that were on the patio for years have been removed and replaced by a permanent roof, with glass doors, and with the chandeliers above glass 'skylights'.

As the patio was the one thing I didn't like about the building, (always looked temporary/unfinished) I'm glad to see this complete now that I will walk past it every day again.

Let's face it: for being such a prestigious building with one of the most expensive condos in Vancouver, this building is fugly. I have not found a direction from which this tower would be able to impress. Another James Cheng masterpiece.

Anways, few recent photos of the tower.

thanks Klazu. speaking of James Cheng, can you believe that his architectural practice doesn't have a website? Who doesn't have a website in 2015!
I'm dumbfounded. I actually had to call his office to ask and the receptionist said, no we don't have a website. like, WTF? that's just bizarre. how the hell do you market yourself without a website? if i'm a developer looking for more info or previous work, what, are you going to mail me stuff? idiots.

Most of the trees overlooking the driveway look like pretty brown.

When I saw this thread resurrected I thought to myself, “man, it really has been a dull week or two for developments / projects on SSP to dig this thread back up!”

Seems like these are related to the Fairmont Pacific Rim? Not sure about the second one.

The first is Pacific Rim. The second is the W43 tower at Woodwards,
