Brightline to launch simulated service to Miami

Brightline trains will begin trips between Fort Lauderdale and Miami this week in preparation of a full service launch to Miami in the coming weeks, the passenger rail service announced Thursday.

Limited service between West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale began in January as construction on Brightline's MiamiCentral station neared completion. An official launch date for full service throughout the tri-county area has not yet been announced.

Simulated service, or service without passengers aboard, is a critical part of preparing for debut, Brightline said in a statement.

Brightline has introduced a new travel schedule between West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale to accommodate simulated service runs to Miami. From station to station, each trip lasts about 35 minutes.

Phase II of Miami Central (the one that includes 2 x 991 ft towers) is beginning the approval process.

Essentially 800k of office, 750 hotel units, and 50k of retail. Square footage that is.
