did vancouver light anything up for paris?

the only iconic thing vancouver could light up would be BC place - did they go blue white and red for paris last night?

I haven't seen any pics from vancouver yet.

loking at slideshows on news sites they are showing what cities across the world did lighting up buildings, bridges, opera houses etc.

I have a view of City Hall from my apartment. It was lit up in alternating red, blue and white lights all night.

What colour is Iraq's flag? At least 20 dead after a bomb went off at a funeral in a mosque.

Great to see us jump all over a completely useless symbolic gesture mimicking other cities across the globe that does nothing to actual help the situation. But as long as it makes us feel good, perhaps croissants for breakfast tomorrow too?

We should be offering meaningful assistance instead of symbolism. Have the Canadian Redcross send over blood if needed for the 350 wounded etc. I've changed my upcoming travel plans and will be visiting Paris instead to help pump some dollars into what will probably be hard hit by reduced tourism.

Terrible news, but the Sunni's and Shiites have always been at arms against each other in Iraq, and there are casualties on both sides. In Paris, this was an unprovoked attack against innocent people of the western, civilized, and peaceful world. That has runoff effects to the rest of us, you know...

Maybe if the thread title had been, What is Vancouver doing to help Paris?? instead of did we light up any of our buildings... It would show we actually cared.

Telus has stepped up and offered free calls and texts for their customers to France until the 28th.

The sides of Rogers Arena and the columns around it (the Viaducts columns) are lit up in red, white, and blue as well.

I guess those colours can also represent Russia, a la St. Petersburg? But I guess no one really cares about Lebanon, a la Beirut.

So tired of this attitude. We are more closely connected with those places we share a cultural heritage with. Is that so complicated?
