ArcLight's decision to put themselves there is pretty bewildering to me. Their audience exists somewhere between the Music Box and Landmark Century, which are both pretty close to this mall.

They could have done really well opening in any of the downtown-adjacent neighborhoods where all the residential growth has been – River North, West Loop, South Loop. They likely would have needed a more urban approach to their real estate though, which is part of the problem.

theres nothing remarkable about Arclight, its the same stuff you'll find in any megaplex in the country except you get to pay $15 per ticket regardless of time of day. it dosent have the quirky bookings of an indie house, and even the Landmark has better seating.

Plus theres this

The song remains the same, by the time Hunt is ready to break ground this cycle will be over and someone else will build Nobu elsewhere just like Soho.

I love how they give the rooms cool names like "Style" (closet), and "Relax" (balcony) to help the hipsters forget they are paying huge money to live in what amounts to an extended stay hotel room.

Apparently not, and apparently, you're not the only one who noticed.

The first time I looked, it was indeed at $7/ft.
A half hour later, I looked again and it was down to $3.50.

I wonder what the rationale was for giving Next curved exterior walls. It's so subtle that the first time I noticed that the building was shaped like that was by looking at the key plan on their site.

It struck me looking at this photo that this perspective looked like the western half of River North.

Great to see this balance of texture and density at an important neighborhood intersection.
