YVR Local Transportation

I traveled over 30 countries,YVR is one of the best airport. In addition, It has canada line connects to downtown. good concept, but the car Transportation isn't that good. there are always some my tourisms asked why so many traffic lights before hit the highway as a good airport we have. Leave for downtown, for sure we have to (but still 3 lights before into Vancouver). Lots of tour groups leave to Banff first, will hit 6 lights before hwy 99). After hwy 99, lots of lights on hwy 10........ waiting for South Fraser Perimeter Road to save the last.. but YVR can't do something on their part?

We don't really believe in highways here. At least, not so close to the city itself. Highways belong in the suburbs!

In addition, any highway to downtown would hack through upscale residential areas, already built in. Becuase of its constrained geography, Vancouver does not lend itself well to freeways ... which is why we have so few of them. I'm sure that connectors could speed up vehicle traffic though, and do so avoid using stoplights, but ramps instead.

There are no traffic lights on the Canada Line.

Seriously, though... when you land at YVR, you're right across from the city. Sure, it's not downtown, but not many airports are as close. Most major airports of this size for this size of a city are located far from the city.
