It's actually one of the saltiest bodies of water in the world, although less so than the dead sea.

Isn't there a "Dead Sea like" lake in Saskatchewan somewhere?

Completely missed that ironic considering you started with saying no cllue.

You're right! That was Manitou Beach in Saskatchewan. Crazy what wonders are hiding in the prairies.

I was going to say the scenery reminds me of Qu'Appelle Valley. How far away is this lake from there?

It is sort of part of the same drainage region. It would flow down into Last Mountain Lake and then over to Fort Qu'Appelle. It is very similar geography. When I first saw the picture I was thinking Last Mountain Lake, but what the person was doing made it obvious to me.

If you took a picture of all three regions you could mistake one for the other pretty easily. Even if you're from here.

Without reading further down, I'm going to guess lake diefenbaker, SK, or somewhere in SK.

EDIT: NICE!

That's Little Manitou Lake near Watrous. The salt content allows you to float quite easily.

I like this thread and want to keep it going so here's another Canadian gem. This canyon is so deep that the floor is actually a tundra and has a different seasonal cycles than the surface, which (if you noticed) also has leafy trees.

I think for certain it's the shield.

The huge change in elevations seems to fit that region.

EDIT: Yay, Didn't know the shield existed until a few years ago.

The nearby, privately-owned, Eagle canyon also hosts Canada's longest suspension bridge as well as Canada's longest zipline.

It's near Thunder Bay, definitely worth a visit.
