Aww... Can't wait to see this thing finished. I feel this will actually make the Summer Olympics this year that much better to watch.

This is already capping off. Just be patient. By late April, it will be fully (or close) to being operational. They're already starting the 'crown' if you want to call it that, (judging by the pics).

There's supposed to be a small viewing (observatory) platform. Other than that some nice penthouses on the top, and the rest is just to make the building look good.

Here's a couple of shots I took with my phone last night taken from Tooley Street.

Also today, plenty of activity on "The Place" (or "The Shard's little fat friend" as I like to think of it) as the steel moves to the 12th floor and within sight of my office window.

I cant imagine Londoners from back when the Tower of London was built nearly 1000 years ago would ever think their city would look like this now. It makes me wonder how our cities and planet will look in another 1000 years. I also wonder if buildings like this will last that long; or will some even become historic sites where people will revel at how humanity could build such a thing with such simplistic technology; that is compared to whatever we have in 1000 years; which Im sure will be incredibly way beyond any of our comprehensions today.

Well if the Tower of London, The Pyramids, The Colosseum etc. have lasted as long as they have, then I'm pretty SURE than this will be here a thousand years from now.
