All I have to say is this is not art. This guy took photos he didn't take, blurred them in photoshop and put random quotes on them. Stuck them to an underpass like wallpaper and the city of Calgary paid him $20,000 to do it. What a hack, and somebody at the city should be reprimanded for wasting money on this so called installation.

Here is one of the images," I Live Here", LOL. He lives in the U.K.

That's nothing, Ottawa is paying $200,000 for this guy to pull the exact same crap at the uOttawa O-train Station.

When the City found out about this, they imposed two conditions; the "artist" has to take the pictures himself and the subjects have to agree to have their likeness displayed at the transit station.

Not a new art installation, but a new location. Sam Sam the Record Man sign is back on Yonge and Dundas.

Ottawa should drop him in light of his Calgary antics. Fucking hack gives all artists a bad name.

Cute, but still amazed by this piece at the MBAM https://artpublicmontreal.ca/en/oeuvre/the-eye/. Is it still Canada's most visited art museum? I know it had beaten ROM a couple years back.

The photo is a few years old and the sign is a rendering. The actual Sam The Record Man sign they installed is a disaster.

Here's the real deal. No background to the sign so we can kind of see through it. Even worse during the day. Poor execution.

Iconic commercial sign from the old Sam the Record Man on Yonge (probably one of Toronto's all-time top ten). Isn't there a thread for commercial signs?

It was a record store that originally opened on College in 1937 and moved to 347 Yonge Street in 1961. First record sign was up in 1969 and the second in 1987. The store closed in 2007 before it was demolished and replaced with the Ryerson Student Learning Centre.
