FAA permit - building - 355 feet

FAA permit - crane - 432 feet

It lists four permits for cranes and lists each one as 1,2,3 and 4, but I can't imagine the building having more than 2.

Two cranes would be typical for a project like this, but the Fairmont had three. But four - especially all at the max 432' height - seems like a data entry problem. We have seen those before on the FAA site.

Tower crane plans - This makes it look like there will only be one crane.

Quite the data entry error there... Looks like this should start going vertical soon.

Makes sense. The 360 Tower at 44 stories only needed one crane.

Huh, that’s a little surprising now that I think about it. This ones footprint is larger than the Marriott (2 cranes) and just a bit smaller than Block 71 (2 cranes). I’d think they’d want two just for efficiency’s sake....

I think the reason the Marriott got two was one for the podium and one for the tower, which divided equally, makes the tower narrower than Block 71 and this one. I'm not sure why they wanted two for Block 71. I think Block 71 and this one are about the same length and width.

Most of the towers that have run along the full length of their block have gotten two cranes. It's actually a bit odd that this one won't considering all the others that have - Block 71, Hilton Convention Center, W Hotel, UT System Admin, 300 West Sixth, 500 West Second, The Bowie. Northshore only had one on the tower, but they had the crane mounted in the middle of the tower on the east side. They had a 2nd crane for the podium. Third + Shoal had two, but I think that had to do with the logistics of the small lot size and them having to coordinate with Austin Proper that was also under construction across the alley. I noticed the one tower crane they had wasn't long enough to run the full length of the building, and couldn't because Austin Proper was so close. So they had a 2nd luffing crane at the other end. I think it's part building length/width and what are the logistics of the site for spacing and also where their materials deliveries arrive.

Nice. This should be one of the deepest excavations happening since all the parking is underground.

I don't know, I'm a little worried at just how long this building will be. It's going to be like a wall. I really wish they would have shortened the overall width which would increase it's height. I'm also concerned what impact this will have on 6th street clubs/bars. Let's not go through what we did with the Westin. I hope the city makes it clear that they sound proof this building.

At least it will cover up the ugly eyesores that are the backs of those 10 buildings on 6th St. What I don't like about long buildings isn't the finished product, its how long they take to grow vertically during construction. I agree with the sound proofing. If its inadequate, don't go crying to the city.

Agree. It's reminding me of the Grand Hyatt in SA.

I’m digging the dark vertical lines on glass buildings that Austin is getting lately.

Hell, even the Hilton.

I'm a little suspicious when the rendering is done with that kind of crazy angle to it. Feels like they're using forced perspective to hide something.

Not sure if these have been posted, but here are larger versions the day and night renderings from bKL Architecture's website.

I really like the base of this building and the darker tones.
