Sutherland's designs are always a treat. I wonder if this is actually the plan or if it's just a proposal, though. He tends to publicize a lot of ideas, but not every one ends up being developed.

I didn't even realize that building was an old brick structure. If you google map from the back alley you can see it quite clearly.

Link isn't working. But another reclad that should have never been done was the CP building on Second Ave. it's horrible compared to what it was.

Egadz (former) Renos

The KSA design for the old Egadz renovations are looking pretty sharp too. I'm not good at posting images but they are also from the KSA Instagram page https://www.instagram.com/p/BpChQE-AlR9/

You can vote for a new forestry farm concept plan on this link. Sure looks good if it gets done.

Both concepts are basically the same, aside from where to put parking. I do like the addition of the new grizzly and wolf habitats at the North end of the park.

The older enclosures do need work though, and should be a lot larger than they are. I think a more safari style, natural approach is way better than the chain link fence cages they have had for years. Depressing seeing large animals living in a space smaller than the office I work.

Exactly why we should vote and then support it

I'd kind of like to see the bison get more space, but other than that I think this is a great idea.

Same, but I could also see the zoo potentially teaming up with Wanuskewin on future breeding/education of a bison herd between the two locations.

I completely forgot about the Wanuskewin plan, but you're absolutely right. I really hope it comes to fruition. I think it would be a fantastic addition to this city/province.

Yeah it will be a great addition and a major tourist attraction. My understanding is that the Wanuskewin renovations are already underway but I haven't heard much specifically about the land acquisitions and bison herd.

It would be for sure. I was down at Grasslands National Park this summer, up at 5am and spent an hour observing a few by myself with no one around. One walked within 15ft of me while I was in the back of the truck. Such a great experience, having something like that closer to the city would draw a lot of people.

As for the proposal, I could see it being a nice little boutique hotel or something.

Tangent time: looking at the other old pics of 21st St from the library’s archives, I think it’d be cool to put the cenotaph back, or have something similarly monumental built, in the middle of the street. Obviously this would only be feasible if the street was turned into a pedestrian corridor... but that could be looked at (the City Centre Plan suggested a linear park along part of 21st). Who knows, could be Saskatoon’s version of La Rambla. (Although I won’t go as far as Atch by suggesting we put a dome over the whole street!)

When can we expect to hear an update from the city regarding Urban Capital's proposed Broadway project?

New glazing going on at the former Atch & Co. on 21st Street. You can see that inside they've cut back the 3rd floor to create a sort of atrium space. Curious to see what's in store for this building.
