List of developments

Originally, I didn't intend to sign up here b/c it is too similar to the "other" site and I would just be repeating myself. But I do want to share the compilation list that I created. Hopefully, it will be useful to some.

This list contains projects in uptown Charlotte and the surrounding neighborhoods.

- I was just in Charlotte this week. There is an enormous amount of construction all along the light rail. Most of it is 4-6 floor apartments, but there are several more substantial projects. I'm sorry, but the 2yr old would not let me stop and take pictures.

I visited last week for business, and I noticed the same thing. Charlotte, from the little I know, it looks like you guys are doing a lot of things right! Beautiful city, and one thing I have noticed on my two visits (the first one about 8 years ago) is how clean everything seems to be. Your CBD is on my short list of favorites for the cities I’ve visited.

Also, LOVE your light rail system. We had some talk here in Chattanooga of doing something similar a few years ago. It would be pretty ambitious for a city our size, and unfortunately the talk has died down. But man, I’d sure like to have that here.

Famous Architects in town doing work?

Hearing rumors we have visitors? Anyone know of any interesting projects being contemplated with Star-chitects in CLT?

Charlotte is really starting to grow an impressive skyline. But, I can't help thinking Midtown Atlanta looks very similar in size and scope when Midtown is viewed from the west looking across the Connector.

I have to say, I continue to be impressed by how Charlotte continues to build classic or dynamic crowns on it's skyscrapers, all the more appropriate for a place that calls itself the Queen City. Especially since, these days, it feels like every spire seems an afterthought and every crown feels contrived. This is a new American skyline that it's been a joy to watch rise..keep it up guys

Bankers don't like to get their shoes dirty...kidding. But it is pretty obvious, they designed CBD for corporate people...when the weather is unfavorable, they don't step outside. They take the pedestrian bridges to go from building to building. I'm not complaining though since I use the amenities as well especially when it is snowing or when the temperature is 90+ degrees, but some urban enthusiasts can't stop whining about it killing street activity.

Loving these updates.

How is the streetscape fairing on the streets around Tryon? It'd be great to see more life on the other streets; it'll make Uptown much more walkable and livable.

The Transportation Center kinda has to stay. You can't just tear out a bus terminal. For that matter as far as bus stations go, it looks pretty good to me.

Yeah it's a good location for the bus terminal because it is connected to the streetcar line and the light rail. That said, I think a new, stylish glass roof structure would look better.

Anyway, here is Legacy Union as of today:

Just came back from a quick trip to my home state.
Uptown Charlotte and neighboring Southend, as well as the Southpark area, is looking damn good. It's actually starting to feel like a big city.

Charlotte forumers should post more often. Y'all have a lot to be proud of.
Stop letting Nashville still all of the attention, dammit.
