DC, France, and the Moon -- my Instagram in 2017

Some photos of DC, DC environs, and far away travels, from my Instagram in 2017. Being Instagram, these are mostly cellphone pics.

Let's start in January. January 19th, in particular, Obama's last evening in the White House. A lot of people went to say goodbye.

This won't be a political thread after this photo. It's mostly just city views. But on January 29 among many other days, protests raged.

February 17, just another day on the Metro.

February 20, not DC. Who knows where?

February 22, winter color.

February 24 (this was a good week for me, apparently), high speed rail.

February 28, a latergram commemorating the one year anniversary of the H Street streetcar. It's underrated.

March 7, Admiral Farragut.

March 13, signs of spring.

March 15, in Montreal and spring is gone.

March 22, in Toronto paying respect.

March 23, nice busway.

March 26, back in DC and headed to the garden.

March 28, build more city.

April 3, Florida Avenue sunshine.

April 7, cherry city.

April 12, rainbow rowhouses.

April 18, pedestrian street.

May 5, my neighborhood.

May 12, Union triumphant.

May 16, canal bridge.

May 26, gardens > parks.

May 31, green lane.

June 5, wonder.

June 25, iridescent cloud.

June 27, another great sky.

July 5, Union Station.

July 22, the Outer Banks.

July 26, rowhouse city.

July 31, DC love.

August 1, urban valley.

August 17, dance in the fountain

August 22, Columbia, SC

September 6, cross over.

September 30, rowhouse city.

October 3, Strasbourg, France.

October 4, Strasbourg trams.

October 7, Paris metro.

October 8, analog Paris.

October 10, Reykjavik, arctic capital.

October 11, otherworldly Iceland.

October 15, ❤ DC.

October 21, free entertainment.

October 22, make it pretty.

October 26, red bridge.

November 2, multimodal Baltimore.

November 3, turret love.

November 4, fairytale depot.

November 9, naked statuary.

November 10, fall colors.

November 17, east coast cowboy.

November 18, good bike lane.

November 24, Black Friday downtown.

November 25, fall is the best.

November 27, holiday decor.

November 29, jumbotron.

December 1, purple architecture.

December 2, Chinatown bus.

December 3, supermoon.

December 6, union arch.

December 16, Christmas market.

December 23, hurry.

January 1, 2018, with an app and attachment, your cellphone can photograph the moon.

Nice pictures! Did you post an Iceland thread yet? I can't remember, and I'm thinking of going there myself. I'm assuming you flew WOW Air from BWI? How did that work out? I'm concerned about their nickel-and-diming.

I haven't posted the Iceland thread yet. Way behind on my pictures.

I flew Icelandic Air from Dulles, but I've also done it via Wow. It's super cheap from DC. Wow does nickle and dime you some; you pay for luggage, and they do sometimes check the weight requirement. But it's worth it for the cheap flight IMO. Icelandic Air doesn't nickle and dime as much, but isn't usually as cheap.

Anyway, general impression of Iceland: Absolutely beautiful and unique natural scenery. Reykjavik is sort of like Annapolis; it's super cute but can be done in one day. If you decide to go, send me a message and I'll give you some more tips.

I was almost going to go last summer, but the extra fees for WOW Air from BWI were a dealbreaker; I went to Costa Rica on Southwest instead, and saved a few hundred dollars on the trip. But we had a whole 5-day Iceland trip planned out, including a glacier hike, part of the Golden Circle, etc.

Send over any more advice you have.
