Thanks for that. I should have searched for it before making it. I just merged them.

Pretty much everything is torn down on the south side. I think the only buildings left are the Museum, the old bank, which now enjoys life as a photography studio, and the old Glassworker's Hall, which I believe was renovated into a restaurant. Everything else burned down or was demolished.

thats too bad but not surprising. i was in wallaceburg back in april but didn't have a chance to drive around that area. i guess the kent is gone too eh. they should try and do something with that place, get rid of all the concrete and make a park or something. probably a lot of places i used to hang out in my drug-addled youth have been torn down lol.

i did go for a drive in the industrial area though, man that is a sad place. empty parking lots and buildings falling into disrepair. i remember how busy all that factories used to be. handing out resumes and dreaming of getting paid 25 bucks an hour to work there. i did work a few places but only got 9 bucks an hour...the work sucked.

Considering Wallaceburg's is not a mill/mining town, it is one of the most depressed places you will ever see but little nearby Dresden is quite a nice town but tons of history due to being home to Uncle Tom's Cabin. Chatham is close to Wallaceburg and quite economically depressed but has a very vibrant and attractive downtown.

This is one category that old London simply doesn't compete in. It has it's lower income areas for sure but nothing like any of the stuff I've seen on this thread so far.

Great set of pics on the "Dirty" side of Winnipeg from someone who walked and worked in some of the areas depicted as a kid. Some are gone, some still exist, but it shows a side of the Peg few experience.

Any historical info on them, and did they end up getting saved?

If those are where I think they are, they're gone now. No idea what the story there was. Based on the area I don't think they were that old - likely just slum housing from the early 20th century (or just unmaintained). Plenty of older, better kept buildings of that style elsewhere.

Grit (Majority in Toronto)

I haven't delved much into the grit and such of Toronto and neighbouring communities, and partly it's because the areas I've been in aren't and haven't been gritty for a good few years/never have had grit.

The following is what I've taken over the last year that pertains to gritty scenes I've found, starting with (the city of) Toronto.

I've been to Peterborough twice in the last year as I have family there, though I've had little time to really explore it. I must say though, Peterborough is rife with quaint streets and grittiness. Here's something I got about 11 months back:
