I hope not, except for perhaps the crown.

Too much Vegas going on.

When I went to the original zoning meeting, the answer from the representative was "not for many years. The plans don't even exist yet. I expect to be retired before towers 2 and 3 even break ground."

Curious how the later phases would look from this angle.

I find it hard to believe that the next tower/phase will be in "years".

These things tend to be built well after the need comes to fruition. I guarantee you this building is filled almost from the start. And if CHOP needs overflow space, they'll need to start planning for the next phase now. And by planning, I mean building.

They said "Phase 2" wouldn't be for a few years in 2013 when they originally started planning Phase 1... so yeah, we'll probably see plans for Phase 2 this year or next year with a 2019 or 2020 expected completion.

This thing is visible looking down Fitzwater Street from near 5th and Passyunk! Tried to take a picture with my phone but it was crap. If anyone gets a clear day and has their camera handy it is pretty neat that you can see it from there.

Transformations: The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia continues its building boom

Quote:
CHOP is continuing to develop about nine acres of land in acquired in 2010 across the Schuylkill River from the hospital’s main campus between the river and Schuylkill Avenue in a multiphase project. The first building, a 21-story tower consisting of 466,000 square feet of clinical research and office space, is expected to open this year.

Why it’s transformational: The Schuylkill Avenue project joins recent CHOP developments — including the opening of the Buerger Center for Advanced Pediatric Care; the South Philadelphia Community Health and Literacy Center, in a partnership with the city; and three specialty care centers during the past two years — that have expanded the pediatric medical centers footprint in the city and region. The Schuykill Avenue project will provide needed space for CHOP researchers and back-office staff. Three additional project towers are planned for the site over the next two decades.

3 buildings over the next 20 yrs? Man, that means another building likely won't happen until the early 2020's.
