These more recent photos you have been taking Carlos appear to heaps more sharper.

Are you using a new lens?

Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) just published this:

Quote:
One World Trade Center, the building being constructed at the site of New York City's twin towers, will have a 408-foot broadcasting spire at its top when completed, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey announced March 6. A broadcast center to be built at the top of the 104-story building is projected to generate more than $10 million annually by broadcasting TV and FM radio signals.

The building's construction has reached the 92nd floor. It will be the Western Hemisphere's tallest building, according to the authority.

The Durst Organization will oversee construction and operation of the broadcast facility. Its spire will reach an ultimate height of 1,776 feet.
So we do know that Durst still has the "1,776 ft spire" in plan. BTW, why did they say 104-story building? Isn't it 108?

I think the cocoon only moves up whenever the core work moves up.

Yes, it may not be confirmed yet, but NOW IS THE TIME TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT BEFORE IT IS CONFIRMED. Because this tower only has just a few months left until they go to the spire-- or shall I say "ugly anorexic needle."

Because most likely the plan will be accepted because you better believe; when you talk about anything being "financially better", the Port Authority is ALL over that.

So now is the time to stop them before they give it the okay. Like I said, this is the new face of America and we are going to have to live with seeing this (hopefully) for about 120-150 years. Don't let them turn this all around and ruin it for New York and America in just a few weeks.
I want to do something but idk to who. Can someone give me a widely known newspaper email address and I will write to them and Ill out my heart & soul into it.

Why does SkyscraperPage have it listed at 108?

Oh now I get it. They want to put a big hyperdermic needle on top, to show what kind of drugs they're on!

I'm wondering why that one uncocooned/unclad floor right there is SO red. The other floors are just a dark red color... But WOW, that one floor really stands out. Lol.

The workers have really been zooming on their workload lately... Love it. Something I have been wondering for a while. The side with the exterior elevator on it - I'm wondering what will happen to it once the angles of the steel become too narrow for it... Does that even make sense? It looks like to me they're almost out of room for the elevator with how narrow it is getting at the top now.

Well for the time being, there's a petition you can sign online (credits to Dense_Electric) called "save our spire!", so if you haven't already, the URL is:http://www.change.org/petitions/save-our-spire Your help is appreciated, we're at 24 signatures. Although I'm not sure they'll consider a more feasible option, but it at least shows people are the least bit concerned. We won't be able to present it directly, since they most likely don't give a crap of the public's opinion. However, we may be able to bring it to the attention of a reporter if we get a decent amount of signatures (hopefully...) Then again, it is what it is, so worst case scenario, we'll just have to face reality. If it's finalized that this will happen, I'll make my final decisions, depending on if the renderings of the new spire make me throw up.

For instance, take a look at the Condé Nast (4 Times Square) tower.

Now take a look at the North Tower's antenna.

This hideous anorexic "thing" is what we possibly could be dealing with now...

Most of the articles I've read have said it will be a broadcast antenna inside the spire.

I just really hope nothing has been decided yet. Someone should do a rendering of the tower with the existing spire design next to a bare antenna like was on the old North Tower so the difference could truly be seen...I'm telling you, this building, because of its tapering, needs a substantial, thick spire to cap it off!

I on board with the petition. I mean sure the new design could be great if done right. But, I love the radome as we know it currently. It is consistent with the design o the tower itself. But ultimately we will just have to wait and see.
