Did you hear it on SSP? lol joking aside, that is interesting news. Seems there's a lot of moving parts right now in that area with ARTIS looking at a number of properties, potential of Earls freeing up land, the Pollock buildings.

Is scotia not relocating their branch there?

I think he meant 300 Main... this thing

It would be interesting if Earls moved there, as the rendering shows way less patio space than what they have at their current location. That patio is a huge draw... I wonder if there is any leeway to expand it at 300 Main?

Makes more sense. Someone had posted this same rumour on here a couple weeks back.

I think there's more to it than what you see in the photo there. This is what drew had to say in the 300 Main thread a while back:

^ Thanks, I forgot about that. But I don't know how a rooftop patio up there would mesh with apartments a few feet away...seems like a possibly awkward fit.

Glass on the sides, perhaps even some roofing to keep the noise down? But really, I dont recall too many overly rowdy patios. I imagine it wouldnt be blasting music (or even open) at 2 am. Probably not a problem and would be a really cool patio, I think.

Yeah. Sorry. Wrong address.

Didn’t hear it here so if there’s two sources of the rumour. Would be great to redevelop the current Earls site. How a city can have a block long free parking lot for a stand alone restaurant in the middle of downtown will never cease to amaze me.

I wonder if the rail side development at The Forks will influence how these lots are developed? They seem fairly small for anything other than some low-rise office space or another restaurant.

I just noticed that one of the windows facing Graham on the medical arts building has been replaced with a much larger window with a sleek black frame. It actually looks quite nice. I was skeptical about this project but now I’m hopeful. Praying that there is a plan for the surface lot on Graham.

I guess it had to happen, those inexplicably tiny sliver windows in the Medical Arts Building would make it a tough sell for residential. I didn't snap a photo when I went by on the weekend, but I thought the one they installed looked a little off... maybe once there are more the overall effect will be nicer.

Even if it does, this site cries for two basements.

What a missed opportunity.

That's the sexier aspect for me... Earl's is really tied to that land, so hopefully a relocation (solid move, IMO) spurs eventual redevelopment of York/Main!

I am shocked how long it is taking to run those few light strings in the lane between Smith and Donald. It is starting to push towards the two month range.
