Miami’s Building Department is currently reviewing a total demolition permit to take down the old tower. Approval is expected by April, according to Kevin Bean of Allied Bean Demolition.
Demolition could then take between 9 months and a year.
An interior demolition permit for the building was issued in May 2023. The total demolition permit was applied for in November and entered its second cycle of review last week.
Miami has become more strict with demolitions since an incident at the One Brickell Citycentre demolition site last year, the contractor said.
The old office tower slated for demolition was covered with graffiti in December. Miami’s Code Enforcement Board has ordered the owner to cover it within 30 days or face fines of $500 per day, the report said.
