Issaquah, Washington. In the snow.

We got some nice snow several days ago, so I thought I'd take a few pics.

View from my apartment balcony. Not a great Photoshop job piecing together the montage, but oh well. Scroll over ---->

^
That's Tiger Mountain on the far left, and Squak Mountain on the far right.

More than 6 inches!

Nearby supermarket, with Tiger Mountain rising in the background.

Front Street through downtown Issaquah. Squak Mountain rises in the back.

Gilman Village, a shopping center that's a collection of quaint little stores.

Issaquah Creek and Squak Mountain.

There used to be lots of fruit and hops orchards in the Issaquah Valley before they built all the shopping centers and stuff. Here and there they left some behind as a reminder. Here's some hops trees lining a sidewalk, in front of a shopping center.

And here's the shopping center. Even it looks pretty in the snow.

Here's the Starbucks I usually go to, with Tiger Mountain in the background.

Staples, with the omnipresent Tiger Mountain in back.

USA Sprawl Festival: Issaquah.

Taken from the same spot as the picture immediately above.

Abandoned railroad tracks.

And, again, from my apartment balcony, the next day when it was sunny.

Dude, that is seriously badass. Especially since I'm viewing it with my sister's 19 inch LCD monitor.

Great work! What a spectacular setting. I'm due for a trip to the Triple X. They make great burgers and their root beer is tops.

Dood, I just drove through there today on the way to Yakima. Issaquah got hammered more than I've seen anywhere in Seattle- but then again, I haven't been out much lately on account of the weather. Thanks for the 'squak pics.

Y'know, I keep meaning to go there but still haven't gotten around to it. Maybe soon.

Blame King County Government. They let all that sprawl development happen in the foothills.

Great photos. With the snow and the mountain you're only a pair of lederhosen away from being Leavenworth!

Where's the picture of Costco's world HQs in the snow? Or how about Steve Largent's or Ken Griffey Jr.'s former Issaquah homes?

It isn't their fault, that area was going to grow anyway. Blame nature for making Issaquah attractive and close to major employment centers. I would live there too if I still lived in the area.

I bought some more film today and will take some more pics tomorrow (yes I know, I need to get a digital camera. Someday).

I actually had more pics than I showed here, but when I was re-winding my film after I had finished taking pictures, I acidentally re-wound it the wrong way, and at one point I thought I was done re-winding. So I opened the back of my camera only to see . . . OUCH!! There was still exposed film in the camera! I lost about 7 pics from that, I'll have to re-take them.

thanks for posting a reminder of what we're missing this year (snowed twice since newyears, both times gone in less than a day). Yay for a year without winter

MORE!!!

1st attempt

Another attempt

Well they both ended up looking about the same.

Ooo, pretty!

Time for a break.

Oops, can't go there. But it looks pretty in the snow.

Sorry, no baseball today.

Issaquah Projects and Construction #1: Building a new parking garage at the park and ride.

Damn, the Hawks lost.

Issaquah Project and Construction #2: New hotel and office building

I had to walk on this

This way goes to Seattle

This way goes to Boston

Middle-aged hippies parking their SUV's at the natural foods mart. Go figure.

But not everyone drives an SUV

Per Fiat's request above, the world headquarters of Costco

Across from the headquarters, the SUV-infested parking lot of a Costco

And across from the Costco, the restored Pickering Barn

Mt Rainier poking up between Tiger Mtn and Squak Mtn. Didn't turn out so good.

Houses above an Albertsons. For most people who don't live there, Issaquah is basically just a collection of shopping centers, office parks and mini-storage places.

Some Microsoft satellite offices overlooking Lake Sammamish State Park

Osprey nest atop a cell phone tower

Yet another shopping center . . .

. . . which has another Starbucks!

Issaquah's ugliest industry: The giant gravel pit.

Starbucks isn't the only game in town, you know.

Cute girl making my hot chocolate.

Issaquah's other notable industry, the Darigold Dairy. Everytime I see all these big tank trucks filled with milk I start wondering about the cows.

And that's it!

Wow. Those pictures bring back some good memories of when I lived in Bellevue and we would get snow. Thanks for sharing!
